There is no, none, nada, kein, non, zero proof to support the theory of evolution, no matter how loudly you claim there is, or how insulting your remarks. Which is why it is called a theory.

The Vatican/the Pope is one man and thankfully he is not God. He is the head of the Catholic church, not Christianity.

I guess all those fossils, the carbon dating and any of the other modern scientific methods are strictly figments of the imagination? There is one thing that I have always “admired” in people of very strong faith, all and everything can be destilled down to one simple “Fact”: god is responsible for everything!

Man is not responsible, all things are pre-ordained, one can’t change destiny!

If you take the time to read about Carbon 14 dating, you would see it is only able to estimate based on a flawed baseline. I understand it is fairly high level science, unless you have studied geology and nuclear physics. Read again my link and post regarding the flaws of carbon 14 dating, unless you fall into the category of those that choose not to be confused by the facts.

None of the “modern scientific methods” have confirmed any millions-of-years dating, even C-14 is calculated to be totally inert within 10,000 years.

well, I for one, can relate to when my Dad was on his dying bed, kept relating to the “tunnel”…he even went as far as to ask my Mother to bring in some chairs so that his cousin, who HAD PASSED away years before…and his wife…who as it turns out had passed away that morning…could come and sit with him…my Mother got a call later that day stating that the wife of so and so had died that day…I’m too young, even in my OLD age, to remember them at all…my Dad was hanging on for my Mom…once we told him “we’ll take care of her” he quietly slipped away…

perhaps that explains the “Godly experiences” and the “not so Godly” experiences…FAITH…I have more…

Man…this thread has turned nasty…

Not really, Mary Jo. You should see what happens when we challenge their religion of Global Warming. We are all sitting around the virtual pot-bellied stove at the station, waiting on the 10:27.

Mary Jo,

All I can say: Talking about sex is a lot more interesting, takes less faith and all get to practise.

PS I’ll report back regarding the light at the end of the tunnel when the time comes.

Oh Hans…he experienced that more than once…he had the biggie blowout back in 81? I think…

Phil,
the ‘bible belt’ put George W. in office, not just one term, but two terms. That to me says it all about credibility. Re my earlier statement, when religion is reduced to peddling door to door, like a vacuum cleaner, then it is little more than a commodity. As always read the small print as with any purchase.

The supposed experts would have us believe that the bible is the spoken word of god. Exactly who did he speak to? Written text, other than drawings on the walls of caves, has only been with us for a few thousand years. Therefore all these supposed words of god, have been handed down for generations, until someone actually able to write, was able to put them down as a text.

I find it ironic that someone in the 21st century is able to discount evolution as a theory and yet unequivocally accepts that man could live to a thousand years of age, only six thousand years ago and that disease was prevented by the mist that covered the earth. Funny how the mist prevented disease but allowed photosynthesis to occur. Oh the mighty hand of the lord, he works in such mysterious ways. You really need the faith when you follow some lines of commercial christianity. What happened to faith-based Christianity?

How does the bible belt equate to man and apes sharing almost identical DNA. Pigs are so close to humans that organs have been used in transplants into humans. Do apes and pigs accept the word of god? Is it simply the soul that separates us from the animals around us?

Fifteen years ago I was involved in a near fatal motorbike accident and there was no light, or my life flashing before me. It was two seconds of 'how do I avoid this accident happening?' and attempting evasive action. The instinct to survive overrides other emotions. The police, onlookers and doctors expressed their feelings as to how could I have survived the impact.

When he speaks to “no one menaningful” in your lives, then it is just that…meaningless…Geo W? I can’t relate politics and religion…so far off base it ain’t funnie…

Ric, you were not being slammed for your faith. Everyone on this planet is welcome to, and entitled to their own superstitions. However, they are not entitled to inflict them on me and they are not entitled to confused questionable belief with hard scientific truth. The next thing, we'll have Ralph trying to convince us that when the walls of Jericho fell, the sun stopped in the sky. (You want to argue? Check out any 6th grade science text on gravity, centrifugal motion and COMMON SENSE! You dispute those basic science principles, Ralph? In that case, throw away the keyboard, monitor and computer you are reading this on as they are obviously the work of the Devil) [Oh sorry...the Devil has retired and gone back to his ranch in Texas....] As I stated in my earlier post, trying to reason with people of closed minds and dogmatic views is like trying to stop paint drying by coaxing it, that is, it's a process of futility.I just need to tell ya, fellas, that you're in for a hell of a surprise when you don't open your eyes after your heart stops beating. Been there. There ain't no light at the end of tunnel, and you have no awareness of there even being a tunnel. End of statement
Tell me how man suvived the many ice ages for the last million years. In order to evolve, a species has to survive. The fossil evidence does not "prove" evolution at all. It could be just as probable that "aliens" recolonized the Earth after periods of inhabitability, or God repopulated the Earth. Take your pick. I'm not trying to convince you of anything, other than your faulty logic. Every Religion known to man could be false, and it would still not rule out the possibility of a creator. What have I said that was narrow minded or lacks common sense? At least the Christian tells you their belief is based on faith. You say your belief is based on common sense and evidence. I've yet to see a shred of evidence that you have produced. I've not said anything about my beliefs at all. So how am I trying to "force" them on you? It is you who seems to take great pleasure in a pathetic attempt to ridicule me. Ralph

So now we are judged by where we live? I guess that explains your act of cowardice in not posting your residence. Afraid somebody might return the cheap shots ? Ralph

BTW…Never voted for Bush.

Even the 10:27 is running late… :stuck_out_tongue:

There may be a good reason YOU didn’t see the light Tim.

Ralph,
hardly a christian response. What happened to turn the other cheek, as customary to those who are actually christians, not just in name?

David,
as the good Lord said, “Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.” It seems that you like to cast a lot of stones, so you are either without sin, or simply full of IT (the word of god that is, in case you may have thought that I may have had a very unchristian thought).

Sigh…Politica ANd religion…lets get it overwith…So can a Super Star Destroyer take on a Battlestar or not?

Whilst you are freezing over there we are having record high temperatures. the mercury is expected to be in the 40'sCelcius for six days running, this has caused many problems the transport system.

Yesterdays temperature reached 45.7C the highest on record since 1939.
Definately no working on the garden RR in this heat, can’t wait until Monday for the “cool change” 39C.

Regards
Dave

Holy crap 16 pages worth of “Record Temps” since January 28th?
I guess it was quite selfish of me to ask for a pony considering the circumstances
I’m sorry :frowning:

The real question ....Was Barbara Bush the stunt double for Jaba in "Return of the Jedi"? Or was it Madaline Albright? I thought you refused to discuss the big 3? I certainly don't want too. ;)

What stones have I cast in this particular thread?
I have “no credibility” because of where I live ? You believe that to be an intelligent comment? Inciteful?
Well, I was born and raised in Detroit. I’m much more an American Bad-A** than an American Bible Thumper.
If you happen to disgrace our soil sometime, I’m the tall one handed man in the Black Austrailian Breezer hat.

Those of us who originate in the "torrid zone" can answer that. The ice sheets covered huge tracts of the northern land masses. But they didn't really encroach on the tropics. Just because New York (the centre of the world) and London (the centre of the world), and Paris (the centre of the world) were under a layer of ice, it doesn't mean Jakata, Mumbai, Nairobi, etc. were suffering ice-induced traffic snarls. Maybe that explains why the oldest of humanoid fossils were found in equatorial Africa and Asia.

Here I thought this was a discussion about “Record temperatures.” Oddly enough, in today’s political climate, that topic in itself has become political (as opposed to scientific for example). But THIS . . .

Thank you Kevin. An intelligent response rather than insults. If during the last million years or so, there was always at least one part of the Earth that was warm enough to support life, it still does not "prove" the theory of evolution. There are other possibilities. If we evolved, common sense would tell you we would have more fossils from the transitionary stages, than the last stage, Homo Erectus. Transitionary fossils..............we have none. Ralph
