re-BUILD LOG- IRON ISLAND RAILROAD

Looking good Dude of the Diesels!!

I just had a Golden Spike moment. Pics to follow.

-Kevin.

Don’t tease us like that! Post some pictures so we can go back to ragging on King for being a butt modeler

Humm, Leaving us hang for two whole days, Hugh?

Well, it really looks nice. Good that you can work in those broad curves, a must for a man with your moniker. Don’t you think it’s time to give in and buy a bobcat/skidsteer?

Gee Randy, I thought by now you’d offer to come by with that cool 1953 Allis HD5 dozer and give me a hand.

-Kevin.

Alright, I’ve kept you in suspense long enough.

It’s true… I’ve finally completed all mainline track work. I’ll need to extend a siding or two, but all mainline is done.

The Golden Spike moment occurred right here and I needed something to celebrate the moment… Something… Golden. I found this…

I can’t begin to tell you what the S- O- L stands for, but I’ve experienced enough S- O- L along the way, so it seemed fitting.

Moving forward… Maple curve now has two complete upper curves and one lower.

There is a short tunnel after Maple Curve that leads the lower line across the walking path and along the eastern side of the railroad.

Yes, I know, I need to finish burying the tunnel. Thanks for the reminder.

At this point the track passes over the walking path and follows the fence line (does that mean it’s the “Fenceline Line?”)

The turnout will eventually lead to a yard and into the shop for train storage. For now, it’s just an accident waiting to happen.

This is probably not going to support any foot traffic or the riding mower…

A true warrior must adapt and use what is at hand.

At the end of the fenceline line, the lower line continues under the foot path tunnel and beneath the two upper lines (did you get all that?)

It passes beneath the upper two lines again and exits on this side…

then continues back to Maple Curve.

Okay, I think I’m done here…

…for now.

-Kevin.

OK Kevin it all looks great, but one question. How does the trains on the lower loop get to the 2 upper loops?

Womens work !

Shawn needs to pass the hat along!

Looks Fantastic!!!

Sol = sun

Nice mower access…

My altoid cans hold my allen wrenches and track joiners.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Looking good.

John

Nice track work.

Unique golden spike, too.

Curious so I did a Google search on SOL beer and found:

ESPIRITU LIBREdivider

THE HOME OF SOL, A MEXICAN BEER BORN IN 1899. WE BELIEVE IN ESPIRITU LIBRE AND CELEBRATE THOSE WHO LIVE WITH A FREE SPIRIT.

AFTER CENTURIES OF THICK COLONIAL BEER, A MAVERICK GERMAN BREWMASTER WANTED TO GIVE THE PEOPLE OF MEXICO A LIGHT REFRESHING BEER AND HE CREATED EL SOL, WHICH WOULD LATER BECOME SOL.

Or, in our world, “Sorry out of luck”, or something to that effect.

Great !

One of my favorite beers!

Track work is a work in progress , looks great!

Chuck, Chuck, Chuck- Can I call you “Chuck?” Okay, Chuck. That is a very intelligent question. And it deserves an intelligent answer. Unfortunately, you won’t get one from me. All seriousness aside- the three loops are independent. I’m more of a train watcher. So, I figure, the more the merrier. The three independent loops allow for at least three trains running (more when I get a RR Concepts Station Master) without the use of a hand held controller. Besides, if I’m holding this…

in one hand, how could I possible use a train remote?

Well that says it all, Don- “Celebrate,” “Free Spirit,” “Maverick,” and most importantly… “Beer!” Which you’ll probably need more of if you read anymore of my foolish ramblings!

And now for your listening pleasure… Espiritu Libre.

Well, you shouldn’t drink and drive anyway. So I guess its for the best.

Dude,

You said the main line is complete, but yet i do not see any trains running???

Is that piece of track across the lawn removable or are you going to make a cross over?

Looks good so far, when am i coming up to run trains? and drink beer?

Nico-

I’m getting there. I need to run some wires and clean some track first.

The piece of track across the path needs a proper grade crossing for people and riding mowers and stuff. I’m not sure that the Altoids can is going to do the trick. Although, the label on the can does state, “Curiously Strong Mints.” I’m guessing that only the mints are so curiously strong and probably not the container. Maybe I should try to run over it with the riding mower first, and then see if I really need to waste time building a grade crossing.

So… I don’t know… When are you coming over to run trains and drink beer?

-Kevin.

Kevin, Kevin, Kevin. I like the idea that you have 3 separate main lines and just like to watch trains run. But above you said, " The turnout will eventually lead to a yard and into the shop for train storage. For now, it’s just an accident waiting to happen." So If you’re going to store your trains inside the shop, how do they get to your upper loops without switches or you carrying them out one by one?

Seems to me that storing them in the shop with a connecting rail line makes it a lot easier to run anytime you want, but that’s just me. LOL BTW nice looking railroad.

Touche’ !! If you have a truck and a 10 ton trailer to haul it with, send it down and we can have some fun. It is a blast to drive around the yard, and once you get off it you’ll need some of those beers to wash the bugs out of your teeth.
