Worked on the truck all day today, on 2 different sub-projects: adding luggage to the rack, and starting to frame in the storage area on the truck bed.
I had a bunch of luggage, chests, toolboxes, etc. laying around that were mostly designed by Dennis Rayon and printed by my future son-in-law (note the careful wording) in Florida. First step was picking and arranging them:

Rope is a bit thick and yes I should have soaked it in tea to make it less white. Perhaps I’ll go back over it with some india ink wash or something.
Meanwhile, I was also framing in the “storage” area. This truck will be doing mail delivery (along with passengers), and the mail will be in this storage area (where the battery/electronics is hidden). I’m wanting a curved roof so the first step was to build some supports for that, using my trusty compass and bandsaw:
And then those are attached to some new walls. Note that the driver side is unfinished but the other side has planking. They are going to be done differently. The driver’s side will be a door (and it will be removable for battery and on/off switch access) while the other side will be a storage area for large tools (saws, etc.).
Whew!
And on top of that, my daughter gave birth to our 2nd grandchild today, a girl named Marianne. W00t!

Today progress happened in 3 areas: cladding the storage (battery/electronics) area, painting the gas tank, and starting work on the passenger area.
First, cladding (kind of boring, I know):
The gas tank paint job was a bit involved in order to make it 2 toned. First, yellow in the middle:
Then a strip of blue tape to protect the yellow and paint red on the ends:
And then it needed to be seriously weathered. This is the first time I’ve added dabs of mud:
I started noodling about the passenger area, trying to figure out seating and what kind of scene I wanted to create there. I slowly settled on building out of materials available in the backwoods: stumps and rough wood. Here’s where I am so far:

Welp, got some stuff done today. Some details (redo of rope on luggage, gas tank installed and strapped in, cowcatcher) and made progress on the passenger area and associated roof.

That rope was just too bulky for me…
… so I found some much finer string, put some india ink wash on it to darken it a touch, and:

I also did the final install on the gas tank, along with adding some “leather” straps to “hold” it in:
And I installed and weathered the cowcatcher:
After weathering:
The back passenger area is taking final form (minus some details of course), along with the roof supports:

Wow Jim that is looking very nice, I really like your modeling technique, looks like a short line system that is operating on a shoestring.

Well, I can’t really take much credit for the boxes o’ beans, as I just purchased those. My innovation was to glue them in the truck cab.
As to the “grain bucket” I believe that is a Dennis Rayon 3D bucket design that I had printed then painted and then added fine rock dust to, hoping it would look like a bucket o’ sand to help with traction when needed. It will make great roughage for those that need it!
Jim, looking good, the Washboard can be used as a musical instrument and a cleaning device. Nice touch.
You need to grime up the front truck and wheels.
Try some of this on the wheels … Looks great
