Large Scale Central

Railroad Hobby Show, West Springfield, MA Jan 24 & 25 2015

Hi fellow trainiacs,
The Amherst Railway Society will hold their annual Railroad Hobby Show at the Big E in West Springfield, MA on January 24th and 25th 2015.
The Central Connecticut G Gaugers Modular Group in conjunction with the Mohegan-Pequot Model Railroad Club, Inc., will have their usual 36’ X 56’ layout there and setup day is Friday January 23rd. We will be in the middle of the Young Bldg., with the M-P HO layout next to us. The M-P HO layout won top honors at the NMRA Convention that was held last July at the new Convention Center in Cleveland, OH.
Those of you that can and would like to, feel free to join in with us for all three days to include setup, and two operating days or any part thereof. Those of you who are interested, let me know.
You may bring trains to run or show or just sit and chat with fellow G gaugers.
I will post updates as the time gets closer. The floor plan, vendor list and exhibitor lists will be posted on the Amherst Railway Society web site soon into December.
This is now a very big all scale show with a fair amount of G scale product available. There is now another G scale group showing and hopefully the New Hampshire GRS will be able to exhibit there in 2015.
We are planning some layout changes and are looking forward to playing with our trains!!!
Take care all

Hi again fellow trainiacs,
The clock keeps on ticking and the Amherst Railway Society Railroad Hobby Show is getting closer!!!
After New Years, I will post again to you all who may be interested in hooking up with our G Scale folk for this show and put together a list.
I just looked at the 2015 vendor list and floor plan and I don’t see the New Hampshire Garden RR club listed, so I’m assuming that they didn’t get in for 2015. As their waiting list gets longer each year, the likelihood of getting in to display decreases unfortunately.
Take care all!!!

Bob, This is an unfortunate way to find out we will not be able to setup this year. If you would like to contact me I can bring up the invite at the NHGRS holiday get together this week about the invite of anyone who might like to come.

I see now that the NHGRS is listed they are in the Mallary complex over by RCS of new england

Just waiting…collecting cash!!!

In reading this post again I forgot to mention that the NH Garden Railway Society is getting to display this year at the show. We were a last minute addition but due to space constraints we cannot setup our full layout and are reconfiguring our setup to fit the space we were given. Hopefully in coming years we can get some more space and that will allow us to setup our full layout!

Looking forward to seeing all of you on Sunday of the show (I’ll be at the NHGRS layout).

I may be going up on Sunday, not sure yet.

Hi Troops,
I’ve been busy building and upgrading modules in prep for the Railroad Hobby Show.
Our operating schedule is full for both Saturday and Sunday. If any you plan to attend this show, stop by and say hi to us and if you need a spot to sit and chat, feel free to express this to any of us.
We are in area #84 of the Young Bldg. which is in the middle of the building as the Mohegan-Pequot Model Railroad Club and the Central CT G Gaugers Modular Group. The NHGRS folks will be setup in the rear of the Mallary Bldg and possibly another G Scale group will be close by. Star Hobbies will also be in the Mallary Bldg., they should have G Scale product with them, albeit that Aristo product is dwindling unfortunately. USA Trains will be in their usual spot in the Better Living Center and scattered dealers will have some G Scale product available.

I’m planning on Saturday, weather permitting.

Our club has a show on that Sunday.

Hope to see ya Bob.

Pat

Tick Tick Tick The show is getting closer and I’m looking forward to it. I will be on a bus with a bunch of other train NUTZ coming up from the Cape and stops along the way.

Last year several of us met at a predetermined time and place to chat. There was also a larges scale central name tag someone made up to print out and wear so we could identify each other.

Anyone want to plan to meet up?

Todd- As coverage for my mom has tentatively been arraigned, I expect I’ll be there - If I can get out of the house with my checkbook- Made the very last tuition payment (for the youngest) without having to file… it’s been a long, thin ten years… might be just about time for SS and a real long road trip - Hope to see you there…

I’m planning on Saturday myself. Will see if I can dig up any deals in 1:20.3

Bob are you going to wear your “Name Tag”…and not slip out so quickly this year?

Can’t make it this year, we will be on the road heading to Virginia for a few days.

Hi troops,
If you all would like, I can print up some Large Scale Central signs in blue and put them around the layout. We will be in area # 84 which is in the middle of the Young Bldg. This could be a gathering point for Large Scale Central members. We are the Mohegan-Pequot Model RR Club in conjunction with the Central CT G Gaugers Modular Group, some of us are LSC members and we promise that LAO will have suitable apparel covering his speedo!!!
So let me know and I will print up some signs!!! If I remember to bring a ladder, I could put some signs high up on the post that will have the # 84 sign on it.
I’m going up on Thursday AM with a trailer full. Friday the rest of the layout will arrive in a truck, setup is all day Friday.

You don’t need a sign you have LAO !

I hope to make it Saturday with my dad. I will spend some of my time at Dave Newton’s 7/8 scale layout. I have to check where that is. Also look for the WW&F railways model t rail car…full scale!!!

I will bring my live steamer and may be the only live steamer at the show.

Eric if you are taking about Western Wiscassett & Northern Railway 7/8 scale it is at the entrance to the young building it is the same building that the Central Connecticut G Gaugers Modular Group is in.

That is it!!!
