Radio Control Harnesses

Does anyone have a picture or literature about the harnesses that are worn by the Yard Engineers that operate the unmanned radio controlled engines?

I’ll look for a picture, Ric…

After a bit of poking around I found this about BELTPACK

http://www.beltpackcorp.com/beltpack.html

Whilst not exactly the same layout as the Multiplex R/C systems on 2.4 Ghz they no doubt could be readily adapted.
I know there are cradles available that will fit the Transmitters.

More research will now take place

Ric,
there was a recent topic, exactly as you have requested, on the Aristo forum, complete with photographs of the said belt. Item is on page 6 of the General Forum, entitled ‘Real Remote Control’.

For those of us dummies who cannot figure out how to find page # 6 could we have a link please?

Tony,
I could not link the page. The only web link is to the Aristo Forum. Go to the forum and select the General Forum. At the bottom of the General Forum, once selected, are previous pages. Select page 6 and the topic is currently at the bottom of page 6 - ‘Real Remote control’.

I went to the site and opened the properties box and copied this URL -

Thanks Tim.

Unfortunately no pics of the BeltPack equipment there.

Fourth posting on the link has a photograph of a harness worn by a yard engineer. Ric made no specific request as to a particular brandname manufacturer.

Link is the problem.
You have to be registered at the AC forum to see the links.

Thanks a bunch Tim.

Thanks, Tim.

Sorry, guys, that I couldn’t get a picture.

I sent out a request for one to several CPR employees, but none could get anyone to pose for a shot. Seems that none of them like to admit that they use them…!!!

Strange. Those of us in the less than 1:1 scale don’t seem to have the same concern for hiding how we are running our trains.

we do, when they crash… hehehe

PERHAPS , hey look at me , screwing somebody out of what used to be their job , with a photo showing me doing it . See you you around , maybe at the labor hall or the Labor day parade even .

Dennis,
I was just looking at the technology portion of the piece of equipment. No harm or fowl intended or implied.

Actually the technology portion is a snip to replicate for Large Scale.
The problem would be making the hardware look the same.
The 2.4 Ghz Spektrum stick type R/C would do the job admirably. Great range and reliable control with a stubby TX antenna. Plenty of sticks and switches for the multiple controls. Programmable to remember 10 locos.
Plus, you can buy purpose designed moulded cradles to hold the TX that sling around the neck and could also be tied to your waist.

No prob Rick , I was just answering the post why no one wanted their pic taken .

Long time ago , 70s , I belive , they RC’d the power plant GE centercab used at the car dumper , and the newer GE centercab now is also rc controled , still .
Of course as a electrican , I GOT to work on them a lot , and after repairs were made , I ran the loco a lot “testing” , of course I always did anyway , even when they were manually operated , I always was glad to go work on the locomotives , and then operate them !

But I do know that the class 1 railroad workers really really do not like the rc locos and the job losses .
But , the firemen also didn’t like the advances made in railroading neither .

If ‘YOU’ are laid off , its a recession …If ’ I ’ am laid off , its a depression .
