This project has been finished for awhile now however the soon to be owner (guess who??) has asked questions and I realized that I never really explained it’s infrastructure. This project was started as a joke in another thread and became a reality one weekend with some leftover material I had on hand from my Lemoyne Tower build(Lemo)
This shot shows the material (kerfed redwood and coroplastic) along with a picture of the prototype selected by Jon. So ok let’s get the ball rolling!
I started by making up a window with acrylic and the kerfed redwood.
Now I framed the front, slid in coroplastic (looks like lap siding), acrylic transom windows and doors(balsa doll house doors) but someone merely suggested that it would be nice if they really opened??? So ok then I topped it off with the freize board and some brackets cut from shoe moulding.
The 1st floor has acrylic windows and smooth 1/8" styrene side walls(suitable for billboards or posters) was my thought on this as opposed to siding. The base is acrylic with redwood planking glued to it for a floor. The entire base can be unscrewed so the doors can be slid out and replaced if needed as they are balsa. BUT THEY WORK!!
The 2nd floor is built the same way and can be slid out the back to access the 1st floor. Note the acrylic wall seperation on the 1st floor. I put that panel in there for a photographic scene to be glued on and it’s also there for 2nd floor support.
The roof is made from acrylic and slides out as well as the 2nd floor. I haven’t done a roofing material as I will leave that up to the owner when it arrives at it’s destination but the more I look at it I feel it’s screaming cedar shake shingles. Haven’t really thought about the back half but the little I did I’m thinking perhaps a set up for dancing girls or illegal cards/gambling? I forget what they called those secret places in the 20’s/ 30’s but I feel the environment is perfect for such on the back of a casual cigar store. (man that makes me mad I cannot think of the terminology)!!! The floors and base boards need a clear coat on them to make’em shine and if were having a party in the back possible a secret rear door which can be done with photographic images. Hope this helps Jon and we cannot wait to see it on your RR!
