Question LGB of America/G45

I have what I would think is an easy question. But maybe not. Who owns LGBofA/G45?

Thanks, Josh

Ah…

First, Welcome aboard! This bunch is a very talented bunch of modelers with lots to share. But be forwarned…YOU JUST OPENED A CAN OF WORMS…!! It’s a great bait for a fishing expedition, but I’m going to let some other fish bite first… You will get to learn what “ventilators” are and you will get to meet some “contra-ventilators”…

Warren exits stage right. DUCK…!

Josh, welcome to LSC.

Hmmmmmmmm on that question, welllllllllllllllll since we know that LGBoA was “transfered” from EPL Patentwerk to G45, I guess G45 “owns” LGBoA.
Who owns G45? Hmmmm … that hasn’t been revealed, yet.
That is the beauty of a corporation registered in Delaware. No way to know who the owners are until such time when someone files a suit in Delaware Court. That’s when the owners will have to answer and the press usually reports.

Warren exited while ducking: Quack, Quack, Quack!

PS Did you happen to ask that question on the LGB Family Forum? Since David Buffington, who runs that forum, also happens to be the president - no, that is not necessarily the same as being the owner(s) - of G45, he would be most qualified to fill you in on who the owners are.

Oh My… The Amazing Criswell forsees a reply like above…then a visit from the

Lets not wander into ventilator, or LGB-fanatic bashing, ok?

I thought (now there's a rarity) that WM exited stage left (on occasion pursued by bear).

Well I did ask that question a few months ago with no real answer. And I have found that if you say anything negative you get jumped on fast. I’m not out to pick a fight, just would like to find out if the money I’m investing in trains is worth it in the long run. Now as for Mr. Buffington I had heard that he sold his interest in LGBofA a couple of weeks ago to someone in Germany. I would say that if we want to realy know the true owners we should follow the money. And it probley goes all the way back to the farther land. It sure is odd that G45 was formed as the new company for LGBofA just before LGB of Germany went bankrupt. Was someone trying to hide assest? Wll as long as Marklin continues to make the trains as before and we can get them here in the US all is well.

Josh,

The LGB Saga has been long and convoluted. A lot of info that one doesn’t want to quote in fora - I usually wait for the “official version” in the print media and a few other quotable/linkable sources. But one can always ask carefully phrased questions.

Follow the money has been good advice when following the LGB Saga! Which has me wondering: Is Märklin still following up all the various money trails?

On that investment question: I have been buying LGB material all along, however for me the investment is in the “fits my purposes” category. Nothing more, nothing less.

Josh “what a long strange trip its been”

I think we have the official song for this story.

Yes a very convoluted trial, I’m still completely amazed by the chain of events that have happened since last September. I havent heard about Buffington selling his interests, can you confirm where you saw/read/heard that? I dont doubt you, I’d just like to see it myself, the next six months will be very interesting to see how G45 interacts with Marklin. Like the last 6 month werent interesting enough!

Sorry Bob, my initial post wasn’t ment to bash, its just that it exactly describes what happenes every time we try to discuss this issue. I’ve lost count of how many topics here there and elsewhere got locked due to the inevitable poop fest … :frowning:

That little tidbit about Buffington selling his interest in G45 is indeed one that needs to be followed through. Two questions related to that:

  1. Who is the person that passed the information?
  2. Who did Buffington sell to?

Those need to be known before there’s much credibility in the statement.

Josh failed to mention that he did pose this question on the Family Forum and recieved a quick response.

Quote: “…And as always, if anyone would like to just chat about the situation, please
feel free to call me
at 717-566-9400.”

Did you call Josh?

Warren, want to give it a shot?

See what you did now?
Dang, two of 'em in one week.
Local Government calls three in a week an “infestation”.

717-566-9400

Phone number published - so did anyone call?

Huh?

Hello?

Or email? Or snail mail?

Are you calling about my R3 ex-LGB switch I have listed on e-bay?
I have lots of them.

Pardon me if I seem a little dense, but I don't quite understand this response. Presumably it means that anyone can call to receive the information requested, i.e., who owns G45. Which is great, but if the information is going to be given out anyway, why not simply post it?

Bruce,

That is interesting! Back during the first half of the year I called up that site and all that was previously listed, and is now listed again, was nowhere to be found. Very interesting!

Ray - we must be both a little dense.

Call the guy - anyone - ask “the” questions and get back to us OR have the satisfaction that you called the guy and asked the questions and got the answers or didn’t get answers.

OR

Let’s just ALL wait until it all gets settled officially - sometime after the first of the year [or sooner or later].

Or

Continue to kvetch wail moan and keep repeating the same tired cliche’s.

Pod,

No sweat! These things get sorted out “One By One”. And there is always “Next week …!” for some.

First official presentation of Märklin’s LGB® happens this weekend at the “Modellbahn Treff Göppingen”. I’m sure there will be pictures and reports in the German Fora.

PS. Just read a post that new supplies of LGB® track materials have been delivered to the German dealers. That was at the top of Märklin’s priority list, good to see that things start “flowing”!
