Holy Cow, I guess the couple of little bumps on my layout don’t really matter too much.

like to see him try to take that tract at 50-60 mph??? Hee Hee Hee. The Regal
“A prototype for everything.”
I’ll bet that track isn’t class 1. The FRA should take a look at it. That has to be a wild ride in the cab!
The rail at the start of the video appeared to have broken segments – viewer’s left side.
I watched with some thought of digital alteration – notice the long shot and there is not undue movement of the freight cars at the back end – where, I think, the loco was struggling the most.
Is it possible a computer-minded added graphic effects?
Wendell
No just alot of highs and lows so the track doesnt look continuous, just drops down below the cameras angle, crappyest track I’ve ever seen!
Good video.
But, Knotch 8 ???

Thats Navy for Notch 8…they like to put silent Ks on everything…
The track in these parts isn’t quite that bad, but I’ve watched center beam flats loaded with lumber rock back and forth 3-4 feet at the top. Looks kind of kool when one rocks left while the other rocks right
Jon,
Didn’t you post a video of that way back?
Don’t remember posting anything like that. Might have been something I sent you off-line. Most of the video I have of the local line is the carnival train - I’ll have to dig through that again.
Big derailment out here on the BN double track class one, concrete tied, ribbon rail a few years ago.
Reason:
As two trains passed each other at high speeds, one car in each train was “dynamic rocking”.
(Nothing to do with uneven track).
As luck would have it, both the rockers rocked into each other as they passed.
What a mess!
Jon Radder said:Maybe just a posting between us, but your description was good enough that I remember you talking about it before and have invisioned it in my mind. ;-) There is lots of empty space in there to fill with important stuff like that.

First glance at the tracks at the start of video, its looked like the rails were moved over and un-bolted. Looked like it was going to DERAIL at first glancel…
wow… Bad tracks…
tks for the link… Noel
That Gents, is how we roll here in SC…back about 8 years ago, before Spa Biz, Kids or Trains, I installed the Phone system in one of the offices of Carolina Southern…I remember a former Solider was their GM, and a really nice guy…nowadays I’d be looking for a Cab Ride…oh well!

One thing to keep in mind when looking at this video or any photograph that uses a telephoto lens is that the lens compresses space. What looks like radical bends and curves in track photographed with a telephoto lens can in reality be quite normal.
I’m not saying that the track in this video is good, just that the telephoto exaggerates the bad track.
I still wouldn’t want to be riding in that loco, even at Knotch One with a seat belt

If’n I had to use a seat belt, I’d want an ejection seat!
Jon’s right about that telephoto lens compressing everything, giving it that WOW! factor. Somebody tell Lewis!
