I’m not entirely sure… but I think that GP38 in the lead used to live here in Rural Hall. The Yadkin Valley (part of G&O out of Tenn.) had several GP38’s here that they got rid of in favor of the GP40M’s they now have … the 4000 series numbering and the black paint is consistent with their shop’s “leasing company” and in fact we have a bunch of six axle giants in town from them that look very similar for the drag from Winston to Rural Hall… I’m betting that Geep is one of the ones from here.
And … with the exception of that kink in the rail, that could have been made in King…

Yeah the Carolina Southern is plagued by derailments. A freind of mine that now works for CSX is a former Carolina Southern conductor. He told me they average at least 1 derail a month. Not good for a short line!
