Large Scale Central

Purpose of this forum

I hate I somehow missed this thread when it first started. I could have made some money off this guy. I would have gladly sold him some original napkin drawings signed and sealed by the engineer of record (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

I was curious, and he wasnt just an ass here. Heā€™s made quite a reputation on other sites too. Hereā€™s a thread from 2007 with the same attitude.

Geez, Bob, and I felt dang satisfied with myself when my detective work led me to PDFs of the architectural drawings of my build this year. I can see where that wouldnā€™t have been nearly, not even nearly, good enough for You Know Who, since I donā€™t have the original blueprints from the original railroad that built the original tower.

Wouldnā€™t have been too long before we agreed to ignore him too!

I think another reason for your big buttresses, vibrations from the trains passing by.

Fascinating, haHA! Napkin buildersā€¦ Maybe thatā€™s like Butt Modelerā€¦ but with paper involved.

Cliff, I think paper is involved in goth cases(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Man I canā€™t believe this, I donā€™t look at this thread for 2 days and all H#%L brakes out. But it did answer the question I had about ā€œNapkin Buildersā€ after seeing Shawn add it to his name.

Youā€™re probably right Ralph, this guys is so tightly wound that just the mear thought of doing anything on a ā€œNapkinā€ will cause a heart attack. So much for his ā€œGrand Railroadā€.

All I know is that there are lots of great people on this site with lots of ā€œGrand Railroadsā€ and we have lots of fun. And we even have a Rooster. Letā€™s see him top that!!!

Chuck

I miss Chuck !

He was a hell of a builder!!

I love looking at stainless boxcars from 10ā€™

Whom is going to meet Satan for digging this thread up ??

So, I wonder if Rooster or Ken will build a ā€œBuilderā€™s Napkin Factoryā€?

Ken doesnā€™t use napkins and I would just shred them for nesting material! However Ben did install a ā€œbeak wipeā€ dispenser in the chat room a couple years ago with tamper proof torx which lead to folks wiping their _ _ _ _ on the cafe curtains in my corner. Iā€™m sick and tired of folks leaving the basement light on as well. Hello, someone has to pay the electric bill ?

Yeah, who dug this up?

The other Greg, but he only does it every 6 yearsā€¦

Iā€™ve always wondered why people get their underpants in a wad because someone brings up an old thread, and Iā€™ve been running forums for more than 20 years.

Bob, I think it is usually more than just an old thread.

Bringing it back with a reason, that is great, building on past knowledge, keeping all the same information on the same thread, all great stuff.

Bringing up a thread for another me too or to bump post count or a completely unrelated item not good.

The funniest is newbies looking to buy something, and they neglect to see the for sale post is 8 years old, and the poster has not posted in 8 years either. They post and wonder why no response (although I have seen people come out of the ā€œwoodworkā€ so to speak)

So, like everything else, it depends (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Iā€™ve always enjoyed old threads being resurrectedā€¦but I guess Iā€™m in the minority.

Imagine coming across something old, but itā€™s a brand new discovery for YOUā€¦(at least thatā€™s the way I envision it!) How exciting! And, in this case, just a funny reminder for ME!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Just a quick bit of context here. I am putting together The World According to Greg, a new blog on my website (which is still in development). An article I was preparing for the blog is entitled Revenge of the Napkin Builders, and it is intended to describe what I do in model railroading by essentially doing an extended builderā€™s log of my Miks 2020 project, as well as celebrate what I consider to be some pretty damn good projects by everyone this year. So I went back to look at the original thread to make sure I had my facts straight and discovered that coincidentally it was posted on the very same date I was looking at it, so I posted that coincidence here. Thatā€™s all it was.

When I first found this site I asked some questions on an old post and got a curt response as to the age of the post and brining it up, I thought for a moment I had gotten access to a private forum and didnā€™t do anything but read for a while before I got the nerve up to ask on a current post. Since then I have been welcome with all my crazy thoughts, questions and ideas. I belong, and you all(some)like me ! You really like me!! sorry , got carried away. Anyway Iā€™m here until BD kicks me off !
