Protesting Stupidity

The comedy team of Penn and Teller turned their attention to radical environmentalists. During the 6th annual World Fest,
“a solar-powered celebration of music, the environment,
animals, health and social consciousness”, circulated a
petition to ban water, and proceeded to brilliantly
underscore the absurdity of some of these enviro-causes!
The woman didn’t lie, instead she explained what water is
and what it does (including that it causes excessive urination),
with the vocabulary and tone of environmental hysteria. What
ensues is absolutely hysterical as hundreds of environmentalists
eagerly supported the banning of water!

Thanks Brian, what a shame. I was wondering why nobody was replying to it. I’ll see if I can correct it.

Try this -

I’ll sign, but only if it can be replaced by distilates :open_mouth:

It should be banned. Do you know what fish do in that stuff…

I saw a bumper sticker yesterday - “I HATE STUPID PEOPLE”. Think about that, you can’t even voice displeasure with the guy posting the sticker, because it would make the person protesting look stupid. I loved it.

Plenty of self loathers around. Funny video, Ric. I'm a big fan of that big left wing atheist, Penn Gillette.

Yes, but it's also an essential ingredient of beer and other such desirable spirits ... :D

Well then it should be banned in it's natural form and only allowed as a base for fermenting and distilling. We can use CO2 for ice.

Jon

“We can use CO2 for ice.”

I’ve tried that, it makes the beer taste bad.

I love it! Banning Water! We are truly a nation of idiots! From the people elected to run our govt., our court system and our schools we constantly prove just how dumb we are!

Fred, sounds like you are having flashbacks from Spokane…

Actually it shows how terrible the education system in this country is.

So some people have no idea what Hydrogen Oxide or also DiHydrogen Oxide or also Dihydrogen Monoxide (2 hydrogen atoms-1 oxygen atom, ) is? I’m not surprised, the number of people who went thru high school and college without a single science class is staggering. Most of those same people likely wouldnt know what Sodium Chloride is. Maybe we should ban it as well?

Culturally we reinforce the idea that being a brain-dead rap star who can only slur his broken english is the only way to being cool and achieving respectability. Scientist are geeks and nerds, no one wants to be a nerd. Standardized tests emphisis getting the answers right, ans spend nothing on the meaning behind the answers.

We’ve spent 25 years dumbing down our population, de-emphisising science, biology and chemestry because we all know some people treat them like the work of the devil and certain school districts even try to stifle scientific ideas like evolution in favor of religious based teachings.

Is it any wonder people are so uneducated? If being educated and smart means I’m a geek so be it…as I always say, its better to be a smartass, than a dumbass.

Vic the Geek

You guys have REALLY got to rent the film “Idiocracy”

Warren,

Are you on straight MSG?

No MSG…Lite Salt which has some salt in it but also has potassium chloride in it too. I also have to take potassium chloride pills and it’s all making me sicker’n a dog. I think much MSG would finish me off. As it is most restaurant cooking makes me sick. Too many chemicals.

Yep, 3 things that are easy and cheep to enhance flavor: salt, fat & sugar.... restaurants use them to make up for lack of creativity and lack of effort.

I thought they were the three basic food groups as promoted by the the Golden Arches (and all the other fast food outlets).

In Australia, Chinese and other restaurants, but mainly Chinese, now make a big feature of advertising NO ADDED MSG.

In Australia our compulsory food labelling laws make it somewhat easier to detect which additives are in our prepared foods sold at grocery stores. However quite often they only state the international numbering system.
I studiously avoid any foods wherever I see # 621 MSG or Mono Sodium Glutamate as an ingredient. It gives me rotten headaches, and, I can tell when it is added to restaurant food. My eyes water and I start sneezing.

Evil stuff.

Now the battle is on to force food manufacturers to state whether or not the ingredients contain Genetically Modified components.
At present they do not.
They should.
To give the consumer CHOICE!!!

At one time food was suppose to labeled for it’s chemicals here too but they also have disguised them to the point one never knows what they are really eating.

MSG causes my sinuses to let loose. I have to keep napkins in the car because when I walk out of the restaurant all hell breaks loose. I spend 5 minutes blowing my nose before I can even get the car started. :frowning:
