Large Scale Central

Pride

I am very proud to announce that Doug Matheson and I have been published in “The Dispatcher’s Office”. This is the official publication of the OPSIG Operations Group. Doug did the writing and all I did was edit it and submit it. The Crytsal Springs Railroad of Jack Verducci, Dave Goodson’s Colorado Consolidated Railroad, Fred Mills’ Ironwood, Peter’s Pound and Western Railroad, Marty Cozad’s North Table Creek Railroad and our Kaskaskia Valley Railway are all used as examples in the “History of Operations in Large Scale”. Frolin Marek and Barry Boggs were also mentioned. I’ll see what I can do about getting it scanned in the “Articles” portion of the site. This is a big deal for us and, of course, we also mentioned the RailOp Dispatching Software.

I don't think you can. I'm going to try to load the article to my area in "Articles". I'll let you know.

It would be nice to have a copy sent to each of the railroads mentioned, as sign of recognition.

Congrats! Often I find that folks do not understand how much true operations potential there is in large scale.

Good job, Ric. Just finished reading it last night. Well done!

Congrats Ric, another good “plug” for operations. Hope you can set it up so we all may get a chance to view & enjoy your work.

Hi Ric.
I would like to read it.

How do I find it please?

I could not see any obvious clickable links on the URL you published.

I’d never heard of either of the orgs Ric provided links to in his post, although some of the names (e.g., Marty Cozad, Jack Verducci) were familiar from the “Gorgeous Garden Railways” book.

I’ve now downloaded the RailOp demo. Hopefully, it’ll have some pointers I can use when our grandsons return to Perth in January. In the operations arena, I have a lot to learn.

Dave;

As far as the IPP&W; you can see it at; www.ovgrs.org/

And you haven’t heard of Dave Goodson…egads my son; where have you been !!!

BTW, Dave…the IPP&W will never be seen in any book on “Beautiful Garden Railways”; because it isn’t beautiful; and it isn’t a garden railway. It’s a model railroad that just happens to be out-of-doors, and partly in a garden-like setting.

Friar Fred has one opinion, but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and I think the IPP&WRR is a very nice looking garden railroad. He may not intentionally plan it as a garden railroad, but it has a lot of great qualities that every garden railroad could adopt.

I’m working on getting a copy of the article setup so people can read it online. “The Dispatcher’s Office” is an extremly good quarterly magazine of all scales devoted to railroad operations. Doug and I just wanted to document the differences of doing the operations outside.

Once again, thanks for the kind comments and we are working on it.
