Sounds like Tim is having a normal USPS experience to me, been like that for well over
50 years as far as I can tell… “Across the nation in just under 2 days, across town in just
under 2 weeks”… hehe It’ll never change either…

I cant say I ever had issues with UPS or the postal service. I only have issues when i order something and it does get ship until a few days later. But thats the dealers fault. I can order from the Accucraft e store and get the item in 3-4 days. Thats from CA to NJ. Then I can order something from the southeast and it will take well over a week. My theroy is if I dont see the item being shipped in a reasonable time I cancal it.
I find I get excellent service from the Postal service. Packages and mail from the West Coast in 2-3 days.
UPS and Fed-Ex is 7 days, unless you pay for the high dollar 2 day service.
Packages I get in the mail are always in great shape. Wish I could say the same for UPS or Fed-Ex

Some action, but not much. One package has been stuck in the Chicago sort facility for over two weeks (since April 13th). Other package has cleared the New Jersey city sort facility in just over four days (still has not moved but). My experience with USPS has always been good, except for the package that detoured to Japan on the way and took the 25 weeks slow boat to Australia (back when surface shipping was possible).
Well, something positive to report. The more expensive package from New Jersey city arrived today. Suprising thing is that USPS tracking shows it still in New Jersey. It was never tracked through Australian customs or Australia Post.
Alas, the lesser value of the two packages (only $100.00) is still showing sitting in Chicago where it has sat for three weeks. I am losing hope.
Hey Tim
The USPS is very slow or not at all very good on their tracking sometimes (most of the times in some cases)
Well anyways you got one of them and there is a good chance that the other one will show up in the next day or two.
Hi Tim
Glad one package has arrived safely.
I have noticed Australian Customs has not rated a mention for at least 6 months, also the tracking info is now only updated during the week and not over the weekend.
Unless the tracking number of the second packed starts with a “C” they only seem to record the first lodgement, so it will probably turn up out of the blue (although three weeks does appear to be streching it a bit).

Michael,
only small packages (first class mail) do not have extensive tracking waypoints. All priority international have ‘C’ prefixes and tracking to date has not been an issue. I always follow the item through Aussie customs and then through the dividing door to Australia Post, next door. Tracking has always shown over weekends, although I do not think Australia Post picks up over the weekend as items cleared Saturday night, generally do not arrive until the next Tuesday or Wednesday. The customs clearing centre is near Parramatta, at Granville.
It is the lack of reported tracking that intrigues me. I just checked and my item received today, is still in New Jersey city. Now just need to think about the item stalled in Chicago.
From the quantity of junk mail I get, the postal service should be flooded with money. Oddly, they keep increasing the price of mailing a letter, but junk mail stays cheap to send.

Well on a POSITIVE note, I ordered some spikes and a few other bits from Switchcrafters on Wednesday afternoon. Got an e-mail Thursday morning stating all items were shipped and the postage was $3.30. And no Tax to Canada either! There is some really good vendors out there if you do your homework.

I mailed a photograph this week to Australia by Priority. We were told that there is no tracking in Australia. Hopefully I hear how long it takes to get to New South Wales!
To bad we can’t use the internet! Last year I emailed with a friend in Alberta, Canada who happened to be online when I sent her a note. We were almost able to carry on a conversation via email!

Hummmm. Ive been reading this thread and I really have to say, that I have very seldom have a problem with the USPS.
When ever you mail to a country out side the UX you can’t blame the USPS outside our boarders.
I wouldn’t put to much trust in the internet. Too much corruption.
We’re just a corrupt bunch! But at least we’re not derailed!

Definitely deranged!
HI guys;
I find the United States Postal Service a bargain when compared with the postage rates of Canada Post. So far, both organisations have never lost an item for me which is impressive considering their volume of mail. Unfortuntely, email is hurting both organisations badly which can only mean higher postal rates in the future.
If only all ebay vendors and all train dealers equalled the level of honesty of both mail providers.
