Possible negotiation snags betwen IPP&WRR and the KVRwy

Biggest problem Fred and I have is who is going to pay for the first night’s dinner during “the Invasion”. I know this may not be very interesting to many of you, but it is a heck of lot more interesting than the arguments over two German companies that are picking over the bones of the Long, Gone and Busted.

Hmm…and I have to decide what type of beer to bring to the Invasion.

I forgot about the big fight we got in last year over where to eat. You want potatoes with your starch? And don’t forget the flied lice. Didn’t even make it to the “Pub Italia”. There may have been a break down in negotiations.

Perhaps I should make a big pot of Texas Chili? I haven’t made it for some time…it does require beer as one of the ingredients…

Oktober fest??? Anyone??? Anyone???

Egads, is it Invasion time again ?
I just came in from preparing for winter break…what gives ?

I do like the thought of about 5 gallons of Chilie…with some great bheer…
WHAT COULD BE SWEETER THAN THAT…even Terry would like that !!!

Bart; I can’t even get that Octoberfest Sam Adams here either…so I know how you feel.
I may have to return to Syracuse in November just fir another fresh drawn pint or three…!!!

If y’all can promise me chili and bheer, I’ll move heaven and earth to participate in the upcoming “Invasion” by attacking along the Western Front.

I was almost going to say l*ft flank, but I just couldn’t bring myself to utter that word.

Nutt’n wrong with leaning a little to the left…if’n ya gotta lean…

So, perhaps we could have multiple types of chili for The Invasion? I can make a batch of Texas Chili - I suspect I can get everything there. I’ll bet there’s a few others with some other recipes.

Could be interesting…

Another chili can come from the Massachusetts contingent. We could have something here.

Jan has got a “Wahoo Chile” that is always good. She says she can make it, freeze it and then have it there in a crock pot. To me Chile is like Spaghetti it is good when fresh, but sometimes better the next day after it has all blended. I could also bring a camping stove, so we would have room on all the burners. Could the management handle electricity at the different locations of the railroad for the crews to “break for beans”. This could really be a different operating session.

Instead of an “Invasion”, we could call it, an “International Chilie Fest, and Railroad Operation 2008”

We could set up “Chilie and Bheer” rest stops at every major station…but it would mean that I’d sure have to build a “4 holer” to accomodate other needs !!!

The after effects would be a major contribution to global warming…

Fred,

You have to be careful for what you wish for. Marty has eventually had to bring in porta potties to handle the crowd. They are called the “Dispatcher’s Office”.

Geeze -

While you guys are busy discussing food for next year, I’m still trying to make a connection to get my “van” back. Some of you might know that the Candlewood Valley Scenic Ry. received a donation of a vintage Jackson & Burke caboose.

The caboose was delivered via the IPP&W at invasion time. CVS Ry. crews had a senior moment when making up the train for the trip home and left it on a siding in Ottawa. IPP&W management graciously arraigned for the van to travel to Portland Maine where it was consigned to the Shade Gap & Neelyton for the trip South to Branford, CT.

Due to schedule conflicts, the caboose has remained on a siding in Branford for many weeks. It was scheduled to come North last weekend and be transfered to the CAMA Narrow Gauge to ride behind Hawaii Ry. #5, but a SNAFU prevented the trip North.

The current schedule is for the vaboose to travel West via the SG&N to Orbisonia, PA this week-end to ride the 3Ft rails of the East Broad Top and ultimately be consigned back to CVS Ry. at Orbisonia for the trip back East to Danbury, CT. Recent developments at the SG&N may prevent the westward move to Orbisonia requiring the CVS Ry to negotiate transfer via the Providence & Wooster and Housatonic Railroads.

In any case, I’ll be at EBT this weekend scouting for vans.

Chili & Bheer sounds great. Can we convert some of those live steamers to Methane???

JR

Jon,

I’d say that will be one well traveled caboose!

Whoooooo lets have a marathon 3 day operating session, chilifest, and Fart Contest! With appropriate side trips to the Pub Italia…

I won’t be there, but I will buy some stock in Beano!!!  Thanks for the insider tip.

TOG

Heck yeah…by Saturday evening we won;t have to use whistle signals…we’d just honk for the Right of Way…could give new meaning to “two longs and a short” …“make it two longs IN yer shorts”…
