I said nothing about “Giving” in a material sense…I was suggesting that old friendly idea of SHARING, with your fellow model railroaders…or at least those less fortunate that are interested in the hobby…What in hell is wrong with that attitude…or is the World so changed that we refuse to share and enjoy the hobby together…

…maybe I’m in the wrong place…should I leave…my back yard is a sharing place and the people around here seem to share my attitude…or is this just an Ottawa, Canada sort of “Thing”…pity…

So who is not sharing?

Are you accusing me of not sharing?

Is this some personal observation?

WTF?

Ya know, Ferd, you and I think along the same lines.
We just finished an ops session…introduced a couple of 10-12 year olds to outdoor railroading…and let the new neighbor’s 4-year-old run a reefer block all over the pike.
I’ve given more stuff away…especially of late…in fact I mailed a whole bunch of smoke and sound units to someone…just for historical (hysterical?) purposes.
We had a lot of Bach, some LGB, and lo, and behold, an old RS-3 with 17-year-old radio gear and probably the nicad batteries…and it ran.
Older RS, no tapers…got a set of Delton’s in the end beams…
Fun.
Nobody got shot.
We all share.
Trouble seems to be when someone doesn’t want you to share, but, hey I can live with that.
I think the biggest problem tonight was a Bachmann coupler that decided it was worn out…neither one opens, nor climbs…just slip apart.

Funny, how a person makes a suggestion, or gives off a thought, without any malice meant, and suddenly someone starts asking if there was some objection or critical thought aimed at him…or anyone in particular…

So…just as a sign of the sharing I was suggesting…

Dave…do you need ant B’mann couplers…I have a few…I’ll send 'em if you want…no charge for postage… !!!

Fr.Fred

Nah…I’m set for this lifetime, I think. I had to develop a new centering spring arrangement…that allows me to get most back into service.
Next couple of weeks, I’ve gotta dig the old circus train bits out of the basement, and drag my passenger train down…hook and loops on them all…going to run in display for two months.
I think I’ll dedicate two or three locos to the cause…indoor track power…and scrap them afterwards.
I wonder what version this old Circus loco is, anyway…I think I may just throw a Shay at it, for grins.

I wonder…I could, just for grins, haul my old Marn-0-Stats down to the display…the smell of hot open rheostats in the morning…

I’ve given more than I’ve sold. Latest was an aristo E-9 I hardly used.
Couplers, parts, they are all free to friends.

Greg,
Stop and think before you hit “post” once in a while, ok?

John, did you read the “40 2 bay hoppers” post?

Did you see that I’m the only person mentioning these hoppers on this thread?

Did you see that Ferd’s post was right after mine?

I think plenty… maybe you did not see these things.

Greg

Well like you and your crew have always preached if you don’t like it then don’t read it …move on nothing to see here! Right?

Fred never said you have 40 hoppers. It was a metaphor.
The post wasn’t a reply to your post. It just happened to be next.

Oh I was stating an inconvenient fact, was I?

Those with the unique ability to be able to read will see that Fred has combined my posting as regards my disposing of my Aristo rolling stock and locomotives (I stated that I had forty plus Classic rolling stock) and Greg’s comment as regards ATSF 2-bay hoppers on ‘sale’(?). There was nothing wrong with the Aristo items other than minimal consumer demand thus low financial return (actually a loss). They did not suit my purpose.

As usual with every Aristo thread there is a concerted effort to derail it. Some derailing is malicious (you know who you are and so do I!!!) and some is simply well meaning in maintaining a friendly atmosphere (you know who you are).

I just let them derail…then point it out and kick 'em down the track a bit.
They’ll keep derailing until they pass the station marked “Wait Until Next Week”.

Little 0-6-0 pulling seven heavyweights is impressive …helps to have that chunky GP pushing from the rear

The live steam Thomas can pull our train with seven cars without a helper diesel, I have seen Thomas drag a diesel.

Sounds like Thomas needs a sound card installation !
