“Discourse::InvalidAccess”
Interesting. Are there special characters in the file name? Try with a different image? Smaller image?
John,
Can you tell us what device you are using (laptop, Mac, tablet?) And if possible copy the picture name and type (the bit after the “.”) to here so we can help.
I can see them so you must have done it righr
So now we neeed a good description on how to re-add pictures to old threads, I have looked at some old ones and there are no pictures. I have the time to hunt down and replace the pics, but no clue how to accomplish the task.
@Pete_Lassen It depends on the issue.
If the pictures were in a Freight Shed and didn’t come through Bob may be able to help. Usually that symptom is a photo outline box, but no photo. I f you still have the photos and know what goes where, you can delete the old reference and upload a replacement yourself.
Pictures stored externally (on your own host or a service) that just show as a link usually just need an edit to remove parenthesis and fix the URL if it’s not correct. You can get rid of all the formatting text and just leave the URL if you wish, but I fould that all you really need to do is fix the URL within the formatting marks.
The default of most browsers is to NOT display elements on a page that are not https when the main page is. In most cases, you can fix pictures that don’t display for that reason by simply adding the s. I changed my browser setting so it would automatically convert any http references within the page to https. That fixed a lot of threads. Not everyone can or will change that setting, so fixing the references in your own threads may help some folks see the pictures.
I’m sure there are other situations that I have missed here.
If you want to PM me a link to a specific thread you want to fix I’ll look and see if I can tell what is wrong.
How can I get all the pictures that were in my freight shed???
Bob suggested that you back them up to your own space (local or web) before the change, but if you didn’t, I think he made them available so you still can. There is a link around here somewhere. I’ll try and find it.
EDIT to add: Here is the thread that has the link: Old freight sheds
Jon, thanks for looking up the link… I must be too late as the link only gets me to an ““Update Browser”” page… Thanks for trying…
Sorry, I get the same upgrade window…
Appreciate it son…
The links both work. Well, when was the last time you updated your browser?
Google does not support older versions of most browsers due to security holes, so it’s telling you that in order to view the page you need an up to date browser.
Appreciate all the effort, Jon and son… I did finally get to the right place and copied them to a Zip file…
Thanks for helping this computer idiot…
Dad,
Why use the word computer in front of the other word? It’s all good!
Old People. Its tough when you have to start raising your parents.
