OVGRS 2017 Operations at Fred's

Mike has posted the first blog of this seasons operations, great to be back on the rails! http://gardenrailroadottawa.blogspot.ca/

Great story and photos. Thanks, Steve.

Steve,

Thanks for posting. It was outstanding!

I wasn’t there but with the abundance of photos, it was very enjoyable.

Thanks go out to the host, Fred Mills!

Thanks have to go out to Mike Hamer for this blog, he does the photos and write up all while dispatching for the sessions. Mike is no slouch at model railroading his B&M HO layout has been featured in Model Railroader. This link is for his B&M a popular visit for Model Railroaders from all over when in Ottawa. http://bostonandmaine.blogspot.ca/ And we can’t forget Fred, as you can see he looks like a kid on Christmas morning when the trains are running!

Thanks for posting that, Steve. Makes me wish July was around the corner…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Great to see those pics and the railroad in operation after the winter hiatus. WOW: that barbq could add a few pounds on the waistlines!! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Pleasing to see all the guys in the pic, especially the host.

Those are really nice trains.

We had another very successful operation this morning, with great sunshine, and warm temperatures. There was just enough breeze to keep the mosquitoes away…the second operation of 2017.

Fred Mills

Very nice operations and RR; also nice to see the Delaware & Hudson (DH) interchange.

You have mosquitoes?! I thought is was too cold, that far north, for mosquitoes.

Yes, Steve, with the rather wet Spring, “We got BUGS, lots of bugs”… This is a fact of life in most parts of Ontario, and Quebec, in Eastern Canada.

The latest “Rail fanning adventures” are now available from the Saturday, May 27th operation.

Find them at: www.railfanning.blogspot.com Mike posted the first edition, late Saturday evening.

Excellent pictures of another season beginning. Thank you for posting and keeping all of us distant members up to date. Like Ken, makes me look forward to July and I don’t know if I can really say that.

I see someone got themselves a C-19.

And some familiar faces and some not so familiar…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Ken;

That locomotive of Lawrences’ is not B’mann C19. It is an Aristo/Delton C16. A smaller 1:24 locomotive. I think that is the first time it has been out.

Fred Mills

Ken; There were a few new to you, faces. There were a few regulars missing due to conflicting events. This past Saturday, the HoTrack modular group had a set-up, along with the NMRA, SLD group having an event down in Kingston Ontario. Next Saturday, again, we will be missing a few people due to a rather good local model train show, up the Valley, in Arnprior Ontario. We always seem to have enough crew members to stage an operation. If we are short, we just annul the ore trains, and/or the passenger trains. The guys and Gals are getting quite versatile, and are able to move around to do many assignments. We are very fortunate to have such a great group of people…

Management just signed a new contract with all employees…a 20% increase in wages…this goes a long way towards the great moral of the crews…!!

Ah ha, I remember someone mentioning that they liked mine, so i assumed they had bought one. Couldn’t tell from the pix how big it was.

Ken;

If I had the cash, I’d have two of the B’mann C19’s…and I think I may have made that comment to you…great locomotives, from what I have heard, and seen.

Fred Mills

Actually Fred I was the one envious of Ken’s C-19 but alas haven’t sprung for one yet! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Here’s the first post for June of Mike’s blog a standard gauge http://gardenrailroadottawa.blogspot.ca/2017/06/
