Here’s the first post for June of Mike’s blog a standard gauge http://gardenrailroadottawa.blogspot.ca/2017/06/
These are great. Keep them coming!
I see the people in Charlies old house torn down their shed…
Ken;
Charlie’s house is going to be torn down any day now. The lot is slowly being cleared, and two houses will be built on the lot. By July, the place will look quite different than you remember…some call it progress…!!!
I hope the new people like trains…
some call it progress…
But I just don’t know, so grampa tell me bout the good old days…
“The good old days”, days when a fella could go out into his large back yard, and get his hands dirty. Days when every child could have a sand box, where he/she could let dreams and imagination go wild. Hobbies that helped prepare children for real experiences in life. Ahhh, those were the days. There were the other experiences, where there were no “Loosers”, everyone was a winner. Friendships were born, and grew with you through life, along with those great hobbies.
…oh yes, there was the few times in everyones’ “Sandbox experience” when some interaction between children and cats took place…but that was just a part of the overall experience of life. Whether we thought so at the time, or not; we were better off having had that experience.

And , yes girls and boys, that is how the coal mine at the end of the driveway was named “Cat Dump”. Aahh, the memories and the gnashing of teeth.

heh…just trying to get out of the basement was an adventure…
and sometimes Shadow would block the track…
Ouch! I remember those overhead plywood road bases.
Not quite 6’2" from the floor.
This week was narrow gauge with lots of visitors! http://gardenrailroadottawa.blogspot.ca/2017/06/session-four-visitors-galore.html
Despite the best attempts of the weather god’s the Saturday session at Fred’s went ahead this week. Luckily many of us ignored Fred’s dire prediction of inclement conditions. http://gardenrailroadottawa.blogspot.ca/2017/06/run-rain-or-shine-session-five.html

Paul’s headache is remembered by many. The new duplex digs have 9 foot ceilings. Paul should feel we did that totally for his safety. Plans are for both inside and outside switching layouts, connected by the “Russel Ferry”. Actually it was really going to be called “that Ferry Russell”, but Jan said I had to be nice.
It was narrow gauge ops at Fred’s on June 24th, http://gardenrailroadottawa.blogspot.ca/2017/06/june-24-session-six-narrow-gauge.html

The July 1st operation was rained out…It is Dominion/Canada Day, but no sun was out to warm the heart. First rain-out of the 2017 operating year. Go try a Tim Horton, Putine Doughnut, and enjoy the day, in The USofA…not available in Canada…

Most sorry to hear that Fred. I did leave a message in the Chat Room earlier today for you. Anyway Canada is a pretty large country so I guess some folks got sunshine.
