I see some of you are getting the drift about the common sense! Nice to see that!

One problem as I see it HJ, where do we find a country with any common sense let alone some to spare.
Mike,
Religions have “beliefs and practices regarding”, not “a problem with”. You could turn your words around and say that you (or any other person) “have the problem with” a religion’s beliefs and practices.
You are a good debater.
What irks me is that you are parroting Planned Parenthood propaganda. Those are the “nice” people that aid and abet statutory rapists.
A great book on the Catholic church’s position: “Theology of the Body” by Pope John Paul II.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Joe Satnik
Common sense? I thought that was against the law.

Read “The Encyclopaedia of Stupidity” by Mathhhijs Boxsel, published by Reaktion Books Limited of London.

Joe, I’m not “parroting” anything. I haven’t actually read planned parenthood’s position on this. And seriously, when I say “have a problem with” I didn’t mean it in an even slightly degrading way. I was raised a Catholic and was at one time quite observant, so I’m very familiar with the church’s position.
I’m also not sure I agree that planed parenthood “aids and abets statutory rapists.” Advocating birth control hardly seems like advocating statutory rape. You can advocate birth control without advocating rape, just as, say, you can advocate vaccination without advocating smallpox
TonyWalsham said:Hey Tony! You may have something there about Switzerland. It is notable though that they remained neutral in WWII by arming themselves and preparing defenses to the extent that Hitler decided it wouldn't be worth the cost to invade. So the Nazis did the next best thing...respected the neutrality and sent their money there for safe keeping.Richard Smith said:I'd suggest Switzerland for a start. I must say that gentleman as you always are, you are my most favorite Liberal. Remember our “debates” on chat with Piute? hehe! You on the Left, Piute on the right and me bouncing around between you two in the middle getting stoned from both sides.
Richard! You got stoned? I would never have imagined that. Was it fun?
Steve Featherkile said:Heehee! Be nice now Steve. :D I DO get sconed occasionally. We have a local baker that makes the world's best scones.

Actually I felt stoned after being between Tony and Piute. It hurts!
Hi Richard.
I am not a Liberal. Certainly not an Australian version.
Because it is now now possible to be a proper old time Socialist I am the next best thing. A Greenie.
More power to Bob Brown.
BTW.
How is Piute?

You know, I'd just like to say thank you.I tend to have opinions that are out of the mainstream around here, and probably out of the mainstream among G scalers in general. At some other forums political discussion usually takes the form of one guy saying “can I get an amen” and a bunch of guys saying “amen.” Saying anything else gets the moderators mad at you.
On this forum there seems to be lively and intelligent discussion and disagreement without the scorched earth hostility. That’s what free speech is supposed to be like. So thank you for letting me participate
Yep - so Golding, Bowers, Brunt, Featherkile and any other of you out there who have been offended by my opinions on immigration or anything else, bad luck - and keep on giving as good as you get!
And that goes double for O’Malley, the History professor with no conception of how tough it was to be part of a society based on slavery when your conscience is telling you it’s time to change.
It’s interesting that Bob is unsighted in these kinds of discussions.
The man may just be the best moderator of ANYTHING that I’ve ever come across.

To taste the full flavor of life, take BIG bites! Moderation is for monks.

Can’t really say I’ve been offended by them, though maybe slightly, but I do believe everyone is entitled to them and has the right to defend them. We all have different opinions, and insights, on certain events whether recent or historical. Personally I’ve learned a lot through these discussions. If you don’t agree with my opinions, that’s fine, as long as you give me the courtesy to defend them as I will grant you the same courtesy.
As for Mike, I’ll let him defend himself on that issue. Though I will say that anybody who thinks they have a better perception of what happened over 100 hundred years ago and didn’t live through it personally, doesn’t have any better a perception of what happened than the rest of us.
So don’t worry, Dave…I have both barrels loaded and cocked with my finger on the trigger…
Dave -
No offense is taken by you having your opinion.

And you are not giving away your RC equipment for the greater good of the hobby?
Should you start…don’t forget about me

No Ralph I am not giving anything away.
Who said anything about Socialism requiring possessions should be given away.
I am of course redistributing wealth.
I can’t afford to buy my own stuff so, by definition anyone who can is wealthier than me.
Therefore, when a sale is made some of their wealth is being transferred to me.

I need to check into that “redistributing wealth” thing.
I seem to be hung up in a “redistribution of poverty” cycle on the receiving end!
