We don’t know each other, yet, but I understand how you feel. In 1966, I spent three months in hospital and had four surgeries because some ER doctors misdiagnosed my appendicitis and sent me back to my motel. Nearly 45 hours later when they removed it, it had been burst for 27 hours. Medicine is better now; I was lucky. Bright side, it kept me out of the Army, then again I was in the Air Force at the time.
You are right, it hurts like hell and probably will for some months. There will be times soon when you will feel pretty good like you should be able to return to your normal pace at work or whatever. The lesson I would give you is: RESIST THAT URGE! Resume too soon, and it can set you back some and lengthen your recuperation. Resolve now to follow all your therapists’ advice about pacing yourself, starting half days, etc. You’ve had large sections of your plumbing and adjacent structures violently outraged and rearranged. You will feel much better, faster if you give everything time to settle back in.
End of lecture. Hope you can avoid most of the pain and get to feeling good sooner than later.
