Hey Buddy…I just caught this post about your upcoming surgery. Looks like you will be joining the “Brotherhood of the Shunt”. I was 68 when I had this surgery. You WILL do well, your young age will be a big help. Apparently your catheter location in your brain will be a little different than mine. Along with the shunt, you will get a nice new titanium disk (inch or so in diameter) covering the new hole in your skull. My surgeon used a programmable shunt on me made by Codman. About a 3-4 hour surgery and a couple of days in the hospital for recovery and then they send you home. You will feel 1000% better after this procedure!! I’ll be praying for a swift recovery for you. You’ll be back to railroading in no time…no excuses now.
