I exchanged emails with him yesterday, so he is still alive and kicking. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
Sorry Guys. I need to pay Bob and payday is tomorrow. I went ahead and signed in under the free default since Joe said you guys were wondering about me.
I am alive and kicking (and screaming and complaining). Just been hanging around working and playing with the Corsair diorama. The snow is gone and the weather is warming up and need to dust of the layout and run a train on it with video to prove its a working RR.
As for the health, well surgery #2 is a mixed bag right now. Up until about two days ago it wasn’t looking good. Shunt seemed to not be doing its thing. But here the last couple of days I have felt pretty darn good. At my last visit two weeks ago the doc was not all that happy with its performance. It was draining but not very well. Not as fast as she would like. I am hoping now that maybe that was inflammation in my fat brain and now its going down and working. She was already planning #3 and putting the shunt in my spine instead. I won’t do it at least for a few months for a couple of reasons. 1) I feel like crap after 3 surgeries in 4 months. Doc said that is from the build up of all the drugs in my system and the lethargy of recovering. We both agree I need to get back up and running before undergoing another one. 2) There is still an outside chance that some more weight loss could reverse this. So While getting on my fit I am also going to try and lose some weight and see if it rectifies itself. I am on a diet and have lost 10 pounds since surgery. Now that I am feeling decent I want to get out and at least walk. My goal is to lose 50 pounds and see how I feel. At the very least I will be in better shape for yet another surgery.
But over all I am doing pretty okay. Thanks for the concern. But you haven’t rid yourself of me that easy
Glad to hear you are still topside, Devon. Having something installed in your spine does not sound like fun. Loosing weight sounds like a much better alternative but I know that can be a challenge in and of itself(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif). But, I have faith that you are up to it. Keep us posted on your progress.
Glad to hear from you Devon .
Now get back to work … walking that is… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Hey guys,
Joe reminded me that I have been remiss in checking in. I have to say it is nice to have a group of extended friends that cares how I am doing. Thank you. Well, the challenge continues. I had an eye appointment a week and a half ago that was not good. My field vision test showed more loss. However, there seems to be no pattern to where the loss is. The Doc is hopeful about that because it does not show permanent damage. However there is also further degradation to the left optic nerve. Bottom line, I am still losing my vision. She gave me some eye drops that are meant to lower the pressure in the eye itself, even though that is not my problem, in hopes that is will lower the over all pressure. I don’t know if I just want it to work or if it is really working, but I seem to be seeing a bit clearer.
I also had the weirdest dang thing happen. I sprang a leak, in my scar. It just started oozing bloody spinal fluid, or at least thats what the on call doc figured it was. I was able to get it stopped and I have an appointment Thursday to see my surgeon. That freaked me out.
Other than that I have been hanging on. I am (unfortunately) learning to live with this. It is not looking like there will be an immediate fix for this anytime soon. But I am working and I do have some semblance of my life. Weather is getting better so am hoping to get out and get active again. Its been a long winter for sure.
Again thanks guys for your concern.
We miss Ya …
Devon, just to let you know that over here in the far-off edge of civilisation, not far from Belgium just over there, me and the boys are all thinking about you and wishing you weller than you are right now.
Take care.

Devon, aren’t you just a ray of sunshine (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)… Ok, there’s the smile I was looking for. We’re thinking about you and hope you get some relief soon. AND, as Sean noted, we miss ya.
I agree with all the guys. We miss you. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Devon, sorry to hear about the various complications. I hope and pray that they can get something figured out for some real improvement, or at least keep things from getting any worse.
Guys thanks for all the concern and well wishes. This is an interesting process if nothing else. I have never before had any real serious medical issues. Just a bump or scrap here and there. Heck I have never even broken a bone other than fingers and toes. So learning to live with chronic pain and other physical issues has been an adjustment to say the least. But it is not in anyway all doom and gloom. It really is becoming an adjustment. I am learning how to get back to life while managing the symptoms. This isn’t by any means the worst thing a guy could have happen to them. I know I will be okay, whatever direction this goes. So I am not nearly as defeated as I was last summer. I am doing better.
Yay! Glad it is moving that direction for you.

Does this mean that you’re going to stop Devoning, and finally get back to work on your railroad?
