Two projects this winter for the mining layout will be ore chutes and a processing mill that has rail access. Both of which will be scratch-built. Are there any plans out there that I can get measurements from?
Doug, I’m still working on that myself, but I’ve found the photos at http://www.gilpintram.com/index.html quite inspirational in that regard!
Doug,
Very interesting site gilpintrain !
There are some great pictures on that website. I have a feeling I will be using my imagination. I’ve spent several hours online with no luck. I’m already making “corrugated siding” since I know it will take A LOT!
I just free lanced one. basically a box with wood grain scribed on it and some 1/4" square timbers attached to it.

Looks nice, buuuuuut It’s too close to the end of the track.
Could only load 1 car with out a move.
Other wise I like it… Looks nice

Actually, it’s centered between the EOT and the switch…it’ll do 2 cars and the siding will hold 3 cars…

I based mine loosely on a set of plans from Garden Texture. The mining complex is still under construction. http://web.mac.com/gardentexture/Site/21282_2_Chute.html

I took a bunch of photos of the ten foot stamp mill at Lost Horse Mine, Joshua Tree National Park, when I was there in March. If you do a google image search for ten foot stamp mill you will find many pictures of a variety of mills.
Welcome Christian
Good to see you Christian.
Looks really great! Nice build, anxious to see it finished.
Super job.
Wow some impressive designs here. I also have to do something like this for our mine dump track. Just not sure what to use yet as my main building material…wood or plastic.
Construction of the ore chute began today. No pictures yet. They didn’t record!
When you’re measuring and cutting an ore chute one piece at a time it takes awhile!

Ha Ha,
Anything I do takes awhile…

At least I haven’t had to spend 10 cents yet!
Hey Doug,
You’d have to clean your bench to find the 10 cents before you could spend it. HaHa Nice job so far.
Chuck
I don’t care what they say Doug, it looks good.
