The day dawned cloudy after a night of rainfall…and the leaves had been cleared earlier in the week but new ones are coming down every minute. Yet, it’s a mild day for November.
Bart had been expected but cancelled at the last minute; but Ken promises he will be here.
Everything looked pretty good…now it was just time to set out the cars. Ken had said he would be here about 10 AM, but he showed up early and we got started setting out the cars.
It REALLY helps to have an extra pair of hands; the work goes so much faster. Pretty soon, we were ready for some operations!
We’re planning on running two trains today. The first one looks pretty simple.
Well, it might look simple, but just getting the train built up in Green Springs Yard seems to take a bit of time as there are a few cars in front of the ones we need.
But, pretty soon, we are ready to depart with our 4 car train.
Naturally, I forget to take some pictures as we switch Occoquan, but we soon leave the town after two pick ups and one drop off.
Once we arrive at Jackson, we find that we need to run around the train to pick up the reefer. First, we pull the caboose off the back end and use it to pull the reefer out of the siding. Then, the reefer and caboose are put back on the end of the train.
It’s actually a pretty easy assignment this time around as we only pick up one car and set out 2. We’re done after about an hour and we take the train to Lexington.
