News Alert

First of all, it is “Scotch” with a capitol “S”, but true Scots call it “Whisky” without any “E”.
There are of course blended whiskies, but we seldom talk of them !!!

I just purchased gasoline, up the valley, for $0.98.9 (Cnd) a litre, up the Valley yesterday. In Ottawa it is currently around $104.9/Litre (Cnd)

BTW....we too often fall into the trap of calling it "Gas". It is not a vapour we are purchasing; it is a liquid called GASOLINE. Most vehicles are not equipped for using "Gas" of any type as fuel. The price of Propane "Gas" is an option used by some as fuel over here, but there isn't much saving, as far as vehicle use is concerned.

Of course, after this discource, a few of you will tell me to convert to “Natural Gas”; as being “Long winded” as I am, might lead to some thinking that Natural Gas might be another of my by-products…!!!

Very true. But it's capital, not capitol. ;-) Capitol is the US house of government.

Here in Alberta, where we're swimming in oil, the best I can do is $103.9/litre. :-(

I completely agree. I think the Brits are correct when they call it "petrol", thus avoiding the confusion of call a liquid "gas".

Teacher! Teacher! Does natural gas have lumps in it? No. Oops!

Kevin…Thank you for your timely corrections on that word “Capital” and Capitol. You are quite correct.

Well, there's your problem... you should be refining oil, not swimming in it. ;)

Careful. That's a sore point with some of us here. The Alberta gubmint would regard you as some sort of socialist, terrorist and/or single mother if you were to suggest something other than shipping the crude oil south of the border. "The government has no business in the (insert profitable venture here) business."

Kevin,

I just let those pictures roll by me, but I had to stop at the “Ray as a single mother” proposition.  Sorry I’m still stuck on that frame

Oh, the horror! Say it isn’t so!

Gas is a vapour, such as produced by the human body (Methane), or the petrolium product “Propane”.

Gasoline is what most people use as fuel in automobiles, or "Petrol" as the great people across the pond call it.

We should learn to use the correct terminology, or are we past learning, and don’t give a dam…

You say “Gas” and 99.99% of the population in this country knows what your talkin about…plus…I don’t own a dam so I can’t give one…

It’s just a short and quick way to say it…has nothing to do with a lack of knowledge of physics…or english…

Well, over here in yUK it is called petrol after the words ‘petroleum spirit’ as it was derived, so it was initially believed, from rocks [Greek - Petros - rock]. It originally sold in 1 gallon tins as ‘Motor Spirit’ by a company called Carr’s - cans marked ‘Carr’s Motor Spirit’ in flamboyant script are highly prized items of car memorabilia here in UK.

What you call gas - as in fart - is called wind here in UK.

Gas is any vapour at NTP [normal temperature and pressure - 20C/68F at sea level of 1 bar].

When we are in Canada we are Canadian so we use gas for gasoline.

Just thort I’d letya know.

Back to page one…and the subject of track…

Verrrrrry Interesting…!!

Hmmmmmmm…

Good thing I just ordered some aluminum…

Speaking of TRACK, or track components…we just replaced a throw bar on a brandy new Aristo WR switch with a nice piece of brass strip. It sure will outlast that bloody cheap plastic thingy that Louey Polk has been pedaling…ok, ok…so it isn’t good for those using track power, but we are living in the future around here, not hanging on to the past…!!! …oh am I starting a hot path to heck with that statement…!!!

Wow! It's a good job that over here in Merry and partially-flooded England we can't actually buy it, else I would be real disappointed, eh?

PS - OT, but mrs tac tells me that I really missed out on a great venison burger this morning.
