Looks awesome Ken!

Ken... did you spray the building or use a brush.

I have found those samples to be very helpful, from time to time

You do great work.

I wish I could have sprayed it but it’s all done with a brush…very tedious.

Gettin down to the nitty-gritty…2 sides left to paint.

Turned out great Ken. If you would have said something i could have sent you a Wagner sprayer they say you can paint everything with them.

Dave

I have a regular size spray gun, plus an air brush, but I didn’t feel like masking all the windows. After going this far, the masking may have been an easier way to go…

Test fitted the station platform and started on decking it. Had a bit of old oak flooring laying around so I’m rippin that down to size.

Ken,
So that roof on the main station is plexiglass with Precision Plastics over the top of it? What glue did you use to hold the two together. That looks great when painted!

I don’t know if this pic will show how it was done or not. The main hip roof is between the 2 plywood forms. It’s just 2 rectangles with angle bracing at the top. The other 2 sides are 4 triangles and I made up cardboard mok-ups to get the right angle. They were joined to the main roof with Plastic Weld (Plastruct). When they dried I cut some strips of Plexiglas and gooped them to the under side of where they joined the main roof. Lotta goop holding that roof together… The whole station part is Plexiglas with a Precision Products veneer. The freight shed end was a Colorado Scale Models building.

Here it is with the platform done.

That’s realy excellent–it really captures the original and that’s an impressive piece of plastic carpentry!

Thanx Mike…plastic carpentry…I’ll have to remember that one…

Basically it’s finally done. All it needs is a few signs hung and I’ll sit it out on the layout tomorrow.

It really turned out nice. Your roof construction explanation is very helpful.

A station to be proud of. The added details , very cool.

Wonderful workmanship, Ken…

On a warm summer morning, Delores sits quietly simmering in the mid morning sun.

A train pulling a passenger car pulls out of the Delores station with some RGS big wigs on board and a few dignitaries. The train is heading for Mile Post 145.6 on the Rio Grande Southern Railway.

Meanwhile, the new station agent at MP 145.6 wipes his brow as he awaits the train.

Pulling into the siding it unloads it passengers for a brief ribbon cutting ceremony and a lite lunch at the new depot in Hesperus.

Backing out onto the mainline it pulls into the station and prepares to board it’s passengers for the ride back to Delores.

From a nearby hillside we get a birds eye view of the new depot and all the grading still yet to be done.

All in all a pretty good day on the old RGS…

Ken, Looks right smart there. Area seems to be coming along nicely.

It’s great to see it in place! It looks very nice. I’m guessing those rocks will keep the mud from splattering up on the siding.

That and it helps with drainage and keeping the roadbed stable. Until I get some crusher fines down and some more dirt, that'll have to do.

That looks awesome Ken!

Nice job Ken   And the expansion is looking good too.
