Large Scale Central

New MTH catalog coming

I don’t know what the sales were for MTH when they shut it off last year. I watched as they first dove into HO scale and now S scale with a full product catalog. I wish they would release 1 fraction in G of what they just did in HO scale.

I bet it wouldn’t sell as good. In the other scales, especially O gauge, a customer will pre-order a product a pay a premium for the latest greatest things. Most guys I know in G gauge, won’t buy something unless it’s in front of them. Even then and most of the time, it has to be a great deal.

Seriously - read the LS catalog and compare to the plethora of whats available in the O catalog, 38 pages vs 192 pages, its quite pathetic. I can clearly understand why some might reconsider doing O, inside or outdoors, vs large scale.

You could say that for any manufacturer out there that produces multiple scales of trains.
They all will have much more product for other scales, but at least MTH put out something to keep the line alive.
It may not be for everyone, but I for one like there product, and I am glad I will be able to add some new pieces to my collection.

Vince don’t get me wrong. I love the stuff in the O catalog. But between the bone they are throwing at us, the biscuit Bachmann gave us and the bag of nothing from Aristo I’m left with that empty feeling in my stomach.

Victor, maybe the influx of the new 0-4-0’s will result in bargain prices for the old style ones, would think good bashing material.

I suppose we won’t see a Peter Witt trolley on the pizza though!

I wish Greg, but recent history has proven the exact opposite usually happens, ACs new 0-4-0 will come out “upgraded” with an “upgraded” pricetag probably about $500msrp, so suddenly everyone with one for sale on Evilbay will think AhA! and start asking $550 for their 20 year old clapped out broken flaking wheel plating RC Cola special.

On the Pizza?, an HLW Birney maybe, but not so much for the Witt.

I was just wondering how you think the MTH locos pair up size-wise alongside Aristo and USA Trains? It’s just because I’ve never seen any MTH in the flesh as its a bit more rare over here in the UK. I particularly love the look of the SP black widow F7s as I missed out on USA Trains F units the first time! Does anyone know how the two Fs compare alongside each other? The USA F3 and the MTH F7? Thanks folks, Kind regards, Gavin

Sorry to be late for your reply but I have been “OFF-LINE”.
Here are 3 pictures, so maybe it will replace 3000 words…

I just put in an order for some trains. I’m glad they stuck with G. They are a great value with sound and smoke built in. Maybe if the sales are high enough, they will dive deeper into G gauge.

What did you end up ordering?
I am waiting until after my annual trek to Charles RO in December before I purchase anything, because I know once I get in that store my bank account will most likely take a big hit!

Hopefully. they stay commited to the delivery dates thay have posted… It would be a big let down if they keep postponing them.

two dash 8s and some cars.

If I lived near Ro, I would be bankrupt! I got in trouble speaking on the phone just ordering some parts. I ended up ordering 2 SD70MAC engines and a bunch of cars. Love the modern stuff.

I can live with some delays. They won’t release a product that’s known defective.

OMG - MTH called me…Of a mix up on my order…no surprise…

So I had to ASK about G gauge shippments for “November 2013”…ME BAD!
Nov 2013 Club Car - Killowwatt…and…

All shipping with PS-3
Nov 2013 - F-7 (AA,A,B) for N/S, Ontario Nothern, Santa Fe, Southern Pacific,

Dec 2013 - Dash -8 , Amtrak, CSX, N/S
Jan 2014 - VO1000, Penn (Tuscan), CBQ, SP, Santa Fe

LMAO…
Time to update your TIU to rev “K” for good support of PS-3…

Yeah, but Ray,… did you break the bank??

Joe

**Not this time…however in the past…**If I had Mike’s SSN,
I should have claimed him as a dependant on my 1040’s…;^)…

Since the “news” does not include an F-7 that is of interest to me,
I thought I would revisit a ‘e-bay catch’ of an Bad PS-2 in an G MTH F7.

Here is a view from ‘under the hood’…
Now where is that PS-3 O gauge engine that ‘fell from a layout’???

Thanks Ray. I shouldn’t have asked. I forgot what you told me. I figured you were tempted though?

Never thought of you adopting him??
