Why would you want MTH to change scales and make another existing loco? Is the USA inferior in some way? Why long awaited? I’m just not getting something obvious here?

A SD9 and a GP9 are two completely different locomotives. A SD7 or SD9 would make a great addition to the already stable GP and SD fleet. A SD9 is a 6 axle locomotive with a 16 cylinder 1750 HP prime mover, while the GP9 has the same prime mover and HP but with two less traction motors. SD9’s were great for switching, heavy low speed drag service. Think of a SD9 as a GP9 on steroids. SD9 tractive effort 75,000 pounds, GP9 40,000 pounds. Same prime mover, so you can see what the difference with two more traction motors makes.

looks like more paint schemes for their cars too. The box cars, reefers, four bay hoppers and the tank cars.

I really wish they would change to blackened wheel sets instead of the aluminum look that they use, other then that there cars are very nice.

Black…aluminum… in reality, they are rust colored, so you have to paint them anyway. In the words of someone famous, I forget just who, “What difference does it make?”

Yup. First court found in favour of The Genious…Lionel went into bankruptcy protection…second court found in favour of Lionel.
Mikey planned all sorts of stuff with his court-ordered gain that wasn’t his to have…and then he was stuck.
I’ve been in three rail for 62 years…followed all the shenanigans…one of the reasons there is zero MTH stuff on my 3-rail pike…and never will be.
I have a good friend, local, who hates the electronics more than I do…BIG HiRail empire (featured in CTT 5 or 6 years ago), I wired it…state of the art 1940…he buys MTH stuff at swap meets, brings it to me with a Dallee DCRU, and I proceed to gut them.
Any new MTH he orders through the LHS, he stipulated they gut it, Dallee revering unit…for free. They get to keep the garbage they take out.
Yeah, I know.

Stolen technology a company has control over is one thing. Engineers in a foreign country who do that without any proof the importer knew is totally another.

Don’t get me started either with MTH trying to patent Back EMF?

Was used for many years before MTH got a patent.

They threatened many DCC manufacturers.

Finally some reason has prevailed. Shame on the government for issuing a patent. Shame on MTH for all the people they have threatened and try to sue.

I was just wondering how you think the MTH locos pair up size-wise alongside Aristo and USA Trains? It’s just because I’ve never seen any MTH in the flesh as its a bit more rare over here in the UK. I particularly love the look of the SP black widow F7s as I missed out on USA Trains F units the first time! Does anyone know how the two Fs compare alongside each other? The USA F3 and the MTH F7?

MTH is 1/32nd and Aristo USA are 1/29th. So MTH will be smaller, no Wow factor

The issue is not those disseminating the facts…it’s those with the blinders screwed on so tight their eyes bug out.

I run modern mainly and dabble in the rest. I’m hoping MTH comes out with another modern diesel as no one else has been doing it. AML dropped the GP.

I didn’t ask for any comments originally but I do like to discuss stuff rationally. I don’t own the forum. I just wonder why guys harbor such animosity towards MTH? I get it that some don’t like them. So hey, here’s a post about something new let’s trash it?? The discussion about scale is a matter of choice now. If you don’t like 1/32, don’t buy it. If there’s something to discuss that we can change, let’s try in a discussion type post with the correct title. Anyone can start a post here with an appropriate title? WHy take cheap shots under the disguise of a reply.
