New member saying Hello

Hi all,
Just joined, am building a large G-scale outdoor railway, modeling 1940’s-1950’s UP and SP.
Its a dead rail system, and as such I’ve posted a lot of info to Freerails.

Welcome, Steve. Glad to have you on board. I’ve been dabbling with LCC since it was first proposed. Love the hobbyist angle of it. I need to get some updated software into the Tim Hatch boards that I have behind my CTC panel. Lately I’ve been working on a CMRI WiFi implementation using a main “big node” and remote nodes out at the interlockings. Its fun stuff.

Hi,

Trying to get the picture thing going, was able to create 1 album with 1 photo. But no idea how I loaded it. When I “browse” the name shows up, but can see no way to start the xfer. I’ve tried both Firefox and Brave Browser…

Any suggestions?

Hi,

So I was able to attach a photo as a thumbnail in the previous post by invoking the “Edit” icon after posting. That post had an attachment created during the post, but it returned “attachment not found”, so I deleted it. What I really need to do is insert multiple, full sized images inside the post. I see many other posts doing this,

so it must be possible…

I see an “Insert/edit image” icon on post menu bar, but no idea how to use it… Do I place something in an album and somehow reference that?

Yea, photo inserting is one of the giant things here that I hate about the software I run. The easiest to do is use the insert/edit icon, and have your pictures up on a photo sharing service. Then in the “source” box, you would enter the URL of the image itself (not the page the image is on). There is a “Testing” forum under the “Website” heading that you can play around in to get the hang of it.

Ok, have attached an image to the previous post from my personnel website via the method you suggested. Seems to have worked.

Only problem I see is that photos are likely to “disappear” as I update my site… Need to ponder this a bit…

Yea, I’ve been putting my “should be fairly permanent” pictures up on IMGUR, because they’re cheap, easy to use, and work well for me. Others have used different hosting services.

Glad it worked out.

I created a directory on my personal website dedicated to LSC photos. Hopefully this will allow me to keep them from disappearing (at least for some reasonable amount of time)

That was my first attempt. R3 curves, poorly supported outside edge of tamped granite breeze.
It was a failure. The outside edge collapsed down the hillside over the winter, and the “stabilizer” didn’t.
The R3 curves proved too small for the BigBoy to get thru the turnouts without derailing. So I redid it with a well anchored outside concrete curb and a “flying wing” for an R5 turnaround & switches.
