Lowes here stop caring the stone tile now :frowning:

I had that issue. The lowes I normal use in PA does not have them. But the next close Lowes has them. Funny how each Lowes can be different. Thats like I hear a lot of people saying the spruces are on sale for end of season. Around here they dont go on sale. They reuse them for the next season.

Jon the stone is great. Cant wait to make some retaining walls with it

I found that out too. They had them on their closeout rack. So I bought all they had left as I have some plans for some other buildings.

I just found the mother load of this tile at a lowes 30 minutes away from the house and under $12.00 a 12 by 12 sheet too

That is one sharp building. If it was mine I couldn’t decide to paint or stain.?

Wow, Shawn- That is an excellent looking engine house. Great job!

-Kevin.

Thanks guys. Im hoping to get a little more done today.

Jon sorry. If it makes you feel better we just went to Lowes and for one thing and ended spending over $100 and new paint for out bedroom. Looks like Ill be redoing the room ugh. Next time I have to go along lol.

Todd part of me says stain or paint as well but then it really wont fit the backwoods theme as much. It will end up getting weathered naturaly.

I’m sorry to hear about the paint! It’s never just paint. The curtains will look old against the walls… New curtains! And the old rods wont go with the new curtains. The light fixture won’t look good with the curtain rods, new fixture, and it’s got an remote, you have to wire in a special wall switch. And now while you look around, the comforter on the bed is a different style and looks out of place with the new room, the night stand lamps won’t match the comforter, and the new top of bed came with 6 fancy sham cases and they aren’t the same shape as the old ones, 6 new pillows that will only be in the way and never get sleep on, except by the Cat while your not at home…

Hint… don’t let it creep out into the hallway, once it escapes it’s very hard to stop… and your RR will hardly get to see you…

A veteran of 40 years of marriage wisdom… get the engine house finished before you start on the bedroom.

Hey Shawn that is a cool engine house! well done!

This is my first post on this forum…I look forward to more!

Eric welcome. Glad to see you over here. think you will like it over here. I know the guys will love your videos and projects.

Dave thanks I have a feeling it wont end in the bedroom (shut up Rooster). I have to admit my wife is great. She really never pushes me to do things and lets me off the leash alot.

My 4 year old wont let the RR go to the wayside, hes my excuse to get out and play. April may tends to be miserable out here so I use that time for house projects and then have the rest of the year to play.

My wife gives me lots of house projects to do and I don’t argue but “what is wrong with the old curtains??” Ha . After recently redoing the floors she thought the paint was a bit shabby so I ended up painting the 2 rooms and the kitchen. OH oh after loving the colour in the kitchen after 2 days she had second thoughts so paint it again I did.

Her favorite quote, " A HAPPY WIFE IS A HAPPY LIFE" and it is indeed.

Shawn I think the natural weathering will look best but what about the roof?

I made an agreement with my wife. I will build whatever you want, but dont make me paint it. So I build it she paints it. It works out.

Very, very nice engine house! It’s got a real backwoods feel to it.

Shawn

That is a great looking back woods engine house, with alot of stuff/junk/clutter around the building will add lots to the setting.

I love the effects of the stone,

The only possible negative thought I have, and hope it works for you is, myself and others have had negative results with E6000, after I used it with some failure someone said the black works better. My failure was on wood glued to steel, others were wood on wood.

I use Lexel glue for years with no failure, found at a local true value hardware store.

Very nice job, Regards Ron.

that is a very fine building. congratulations for a well executed idea!

Thanks guys. Dennis I have actually used it many times and never had an issue. I have stuff going on 5 years and still holdinng strong. Its funny how some people have different results. I know some have great luck with goop while others not so much. Sometimes alot has to do with the climate one lives in. Where do youl ive? Be curious.

GOOP and E6000 are the same stuff made by the same company…Matter of fact accrodign to the MSDS all the varieties of GOOP are the same too…even though I swear by the Lawn and Garden Variety…

Hmmm good to know. Never new that.

I managed to get the engine housse on the layout. Just have to connect the track but ground still frozen solid.

Shawn I hope the E6000 never fails for you, I live in southwest Mo. 10-15 below to 105 are the extremes, mostly 10 degrees less both ways, and moderate humidity.

Really anxious for pics of it set and detailed. You inspired me to start one today.

Thanks Dennis
