Jon, take it easy on the healing part. You’re not 18, anymore. Insist on physical therapy, at the appropriate time. Wish I could have scrubbed in on your surgery, that would have been fascinating.
Jon- Don’t listen to any of them… You need to make a visit back home, here in Buffalo, and help me shovel more dirt for my layout rebuild!! Now that’s some physical therapy!!!
-Kevin.
I expected to be able to do a little more, but they have my left hand in a splint and huge bandage. So rather than start with excavation and concrete work, I’ll start with gluing and pinning the deck. Photos later today when I have some progress.
Moving slow, but making progress. Got about 3 feet of bridge deck assembled and glued today…
Need at least 3 more of these sections, then I can add rail.
You gonna hand spike the rail ?

Yes, but no guard rails. This is the 1st one of it’s type I made. Deck was made from PVC so spiking was quite easy. I hope the cedar I’m using spikes as well…
Jon, glad surgery went well… Work looks good, but it’s kinda slow, can you speed it up a little??? (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

The lack of guardrails caused a rumble of thunder out here!

We heard you the first time Ken
Ken’s just helpin’ me with the reply count on this thread.
Finished the deck assembly today and painted the rail. I can’t do final assembly of the deck or spike the rail until I know the exact length. For that I need two hands to excavate and pour the concrete for the new lower abutment. Hopefully I get the splint off Tuesday and can start using it a little.
Or, you could enlist some help.
I agree with David. Get some help, don’t push that hand until its ready. I have spoken! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
Don’t worry - I’ll listen to my surgeon and not over-work it.
