Cool!

It looks to be a shy lower that the rails… or is it the same height?

Thanks Joe!

Sean,

It is lower. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Thanks!

I got a good look at these mechanisms during the BTS, I may have to switch over my mechanisms, they are way better than LGB stock manual mechs.

I’ve had a couple of them outside now for a month… They work good and I like them… I have a few I got from RLD and plan to install more…

I use the throw bar that comes with them, as I want a positive contact of the points on both sides… It is the operators responsibility to insure that no foreign objects are caught in the switches while they are being thrown… Forcing something to move that doesn’t seem to want to move, to me, is just someone showing a lack of respect…

As always, it’s just my opinion. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Andy, but thats the American way. If at first you don’t succeed, try a bigger hammer.

I can not even begin to recall, all of the service calls I have had, because a customer made something fit, or close, with more force then it would seam should be necessary. Of course, when I point out the shoe prints on a cover or drawer, I seldom get an answer. I get a mumble, or stunned look, but not a clear answer.

Digging this thread up again. Anyone know the best price/availability for these? I need a dozen or so…

Bob,

Quote from my post:

Bachmann Manual Switch Stand

With the National Garden Railway Convention coming up, and my RR one of the open houses, I needed to fix three of my turnouts. Two had no throws at all and one was an Aristo that didn’t work well. I ordered the Bachmann Large scale switch stands from Train World for $10.99 each. They have three options for the mounting distance from the track, I chose the middle one. Switching out the standoff rod was a little tedious…need smaller fingers. One of the neat things about them is I now can tell, from a distance, the switch position.

Got mine at TrainWorld, Bob. $10.99

The two I’ve bought have lasted outside all winter. Mechanically they are fine, but aesthetically I’ve killed them! I’ve broken off all the targets, and managed to snap off the metal posts at the base. The product is not defective by any means…I just run a rough railroad! In the future I’m sticking with the simple 90deg steel spring method.

They run about ten bucks a pop. Everybody seems to be out of them, waiting for their ship to come in.

I got mine from Star hobbies for $12.99

Hmm, now my brain wonders what a respect of lack would be.

Caboose Hobbies is having a 25% off moving sale. Don’t tarry, Bob.
