Greetings all,
Here is the latest project I have been working on in 1/29th scale.

Greetings all,
Here is the latest project I have been working on in 1/29th scale.

A superb model Alan. I guess it forms part of your MOW train.
You know it is something every railroad must have. I have to admit mine hasn’t got one but I do keep looking at toy shops for something I can kitbash.
Wow Alan that looks pretty nice. When do you think it will be available and how much?
Chuck
Hi Chuck
I am finishing the drawings of the pictured version now. Will have a final quote on the cutting in a couple of days.
I have designed parts for a few different versions and am not sure how I am going to proceed with the variations.
Pictured is one of the options.

Beautiful job on the railroad crane!!
Are you going with a lighter car and hoisting unit for the lattice boom and clam shell?
Rick
I do not have any plans to design a lighter car at this time. If there is interest out there in me doing so, just let me know.
The lattice boom was designed to fit on the crane pictured.
Alan
Beautiful model, Alan. I like all of those rivets. How are they done?

A machine?
Bruce
The rivets you see on the crane are hand placed Tichy rivets. I switched over to using Tichy on this model and I am glad it did. I tighten up the tolerances on the holes that I cut and found that the rivets “snap” into the model. The installation of the rivets went fairly quickly and with no glue. I will prime and paint over them and they should be good to go.
Alan
Here is a close up of the rivet detail. Also note the laser cut nut on the brass shaft.
Alan
Pretty cool looking rivets - what size are they? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Tichy before now.
Bruce
I used size .06. search for Tichy Train Group and look at their O scale catalog.
Alan
Wow, that looks great!
I still wish I had bought the 200 ton crane. This one here looks nice but out of my time period. Later RJD

I still offer the 250 tonner.
Alan

THIS model might interest us a lot if it is affordable…

Here are the rivets with a coat of paint. I have updated my website with more pictures.
Alan,
What are you using for glad hands? Are you making your own?
Man, those rivets really look sharp! Great looking model.
