The “Official” hotel is the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Hotel, but there are other options nearby. I’m staying at a Hilton since I have points to spend.
The last few years I’ve stayed at the Red Roof in West Springfield. Far from fancy, but clean & comfortable bed. Around $150/Night now which is almost double last year!
EDIT TO UPDATE:
I booked the Red Roof Plus for two nights (Friday/Saturday) $340 with tax as a RediRewards member which was a few dollars cheaper than the ARRP rate.
Yeah, convenient, but that Red Roof is kinda rough…
I remember that stay, hm.
I’d probably go with AirBnB or similar, for an apartment or something around $125.
Ive stayed at both the RR and the Quality Inn there. While cheap, you get what you pay for. Really rough and noisy.
I can’t disagree. I’ve stayed in the Red Roof twice. The room was OK and I was on the upper floor so noise wasn’t too bad. My reservation is can be cancelled so I’ll look around. Id like to come up Friday, but if I only stay one night I could splurge for a better place.
Looking around at the other budget hotels in the area, I moved my reservation to the Regency Inn which is right down the street and has good reviews. $1 more than Red Roof. Not sure this is a good choice either as there is no corporate website.
The place on the side street near the show? I pulled into the parking lot last year to check out it, and it looked pretty sad.
Just booked a room at Holiday Inn Express. The Train Show rate was for 3 days, and it was cheaper than “Discount Rate” for 2 days. So I booked for 3.
We used to stay at Holiday Inn in York except for the last year. What was the motel we used?
Ooof, yep. That’s the one. Maybe all the reviews and pictures are fake
Pics on Street view look rough. Grass 2 feet tall, ripped entrance awning and no cars in the lot. I think I’m going to keep looking. LaQuinta with AARP is about $50/night more but includes breakfast.
The Attending the Show page of the show website has numerous hotels at various show rates. Should have looked there first!
The Hampton Inn is in the same mall that the LongHorn is, and there are few other restaurants as well.
Thanks. I changed to the Hampton Inn. It was easy because I still have a Hilton Rewards membership, so they had all my info
I am coming in on Friday so I can help set up. LMK what time you are showing up Friday when it gets closer.
Rate was exactly the same as the crappy Regency and $1 more than Red Roof.
NOTE: You do need to call the show hotels directly to get the rate. The best Sr. rate in the Hampton without the show price is $225 night!
We have stayed in that LaQuinta when we are at the horse show, much larger crowds
Lately we have been staying in Enfield Con
A great place in Springfield is The restaurant that can’t be beat is the
Student Prince ( German meet and beer) right down the street from the Casino
I’d also suggest, if anyone wants to try a bit more of a drive, the Northampton area is nice. And the Union Station there is a cool place to check out. It’s probably around 20 minutes north of the event.
Now I’m looking at Hampton Inn too. The Holiday Inn Express is $10 cheaper, but can anyone tell me how much of a pain it is to get across the Memorial Bridge.
I’ve never had an issue with the bridge. That’s how I’ll get to the show all weekend.
Great news! We got a reservation at the Hampton Inn after talking to somebody that knew what they were doing. Gave us the train show rate. The person yesterday said the train show rate was not listed. CX Holiday Inn Express.
See you at the Show!
And just a reminder, please don’t sell any thing at the LSC booth if you’re hanging out with us. We are not a vendor, but an attraction of the show.
If you want to sell at the show, there is a White Elephant table you can place your items on. There is a small donation to display and 10% commission if they sell. The tables get a lot of traffic and are attended.
Yea, I’ve unloaded a bunch of stuff there both years. Need to figure out what I want to sell this year!
As far as for the D&B, Ill probably bring the 3d printed hoppers and the passenger shelter. Might bring my Hanrahan refrigerator car too.
