ROOSTER - I HAVE AN IDEA

you can build this one, and seeing how you don’t need it you can send it to me, solves 2 problems

Does this one look like a SUPER camel back extra long double humper?

Mark, the top one is a McKeen Railcar. Its powered by a marine internal combustion engine. And from what I have read, its not powered very well by it.

Neither of these are Mckeen cars actually, they predate them by a few years

D&H 1000 is the First doodle bug built by GE, the D&H donated the Smith and Barney the car for the conversion

D&H 2000 is their second attempt - uses a Wason Manufacturing car

Todd on that unit (top of page 2 pic) they took a 4-4-0 regualr engine, striped the top off it and added the cab on top, I guess you could call it a Super Camel back, not sure whats going on inside that unit

The next tansit engine on the list isn’t “prototypical” the D&H never had this one, but seeing how I got this one for $100, couldn’t pass it up, Will need to strip the Southern and reletter for the D&H

Rear trailing truck is unpowered, there are no bushings against the wheels so no changes needed here (https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1/1796583_1466956796866026_1105146694_n.jpg)

Front powered truck looks like the standard arist power block

Lights already have an on/off switch, planning on isolating the lights and running a seperate battery just for the lights

Looks like plenty of room for batteries behind the doors, last owner glued them shut, luckily the glue didnt damage the door when opened

Ok question time, if I don’t replace that stupid traction tire strip, how will it affect tracking?

Can’t answer your question but I have a few bags of tires for RDC’s - will probably fit. Will you be at ECLSTS?

I don’t think any of my locos have their traction tires left

Going through these pictures I noticed that crack in the floor in this picture, So I took aprt the entire doodlebug to check everything out

Richard

Apparently the fab 4 that complain about quality control issues in china and say it’s “crappy” are talking abut stuff like this

At least your “throne” isn’t loose and wandering around inside the coach. I only have one Aristo heavyweight coach, and its only “passenger” is the throne. Someday I will open the thing up to change out the lights, add passengers and put the throne back in its proper place.

David don’t they call that a port-a potty ?

Richard

don’t understand why its there, ya cant see it through the window, wasted detail

I didn’t see the toilet seat… Had to laf… Least yours sink is not glued upside down with a tube of glue. I had to put a Out of Order Sink sign on the door until I was able to get back in the Coach to fig. out how I was going to fix this problem.
Today I noticed I had a few people that fell over inside, so that got me back to do the sink fix and to saw it out and get it right side up…
I not to sure across the pond they don’t use these things or see how they work…lol.

I love it!

Edit to say…settle down Pap…

That’s a really good comment, Mark. When I’m building stuff I can’t imagine wasting the time putting in details nobody will see. But if you buy something and it already has the detail in it, well then, what the heck…besides you never know when you might need to cannibalize it for a detail somewhere else.

edited to remove a comment I didn’t want taken the wrong way.

installing new lights, didn’t like the aristo ones

thinking the 7.2v might be a good speed, need to test out on the layout when the ice is off the rails

I would try to install new traction tires or looks for a use brick and exchange the wheels so you do not have to fool with the traction tires. Not recommended to run without them. Poor tracking and less traction. Also this loco is not made to handle a bunch of cars. About one extra coach is it’s limit. Later RJD

Richard

ha ha ha, yea, maybe. Its definitely mobile.

I also don’t understand putting in details that cannot be seen.
