NBRR-v4.0: I need a track plan-and I need your help

I need a track plan! I have a good deal of track and plenty of space. Roundy-rounds please, at least 2 loops for running more than one at a time.

Fold it, cross it, whatever!

Cale, it would help if we had some dimensions, Napkin would be fine.

The Tortoise & Lizards Bash uses three loops, with one that alternates trains, and sidings add three p-t-ps.

Graphic is too big to post. See the link:

You’ve got yourself an empty canvas there. Just start laying out track till you see something you like.

OMG that is Hideous!

That is OK Cale we get the idea.

So many posibilities. I see trees, rocks, a stream so you have plenty of excuses to bend track to avoid obstacles thus creating interest. I agree with Ken, just start putting track down and see where it goes. The best laid “napkin” plans tend to get shredded when the tracks starts going down.

I see a loop that follows along the outer edges. Do remember to put in some sidings that you can easily get to so you can park trains and swap out some cars to resemble operations. Trains need a reason to run. Are you track powered or battery? Some plans are easier to implement with battery power. I’m thinking the second loop is largest at the stream end then cuts across the layout on a single track to another reverse loop. Somewhere the outside main needs to meet up with the inner shortline.
Will you have tracks going into the carport?

A blank slate can be challenging so get out and start putting track down.

Happy RRing

sorry, I’m an official “Dark-side” member of the Battery/RC mafia.

I think I will eventually build an outbuilding between the rear wall of the carport and waterfall head to store rolling stock and etc in. (at ground level) like some have done here (Noel, etc…). There is a opening between the rocks there that I have propped an old tunnel portal in front of, that may be the lead in for storage.

Milam is standing near where the falls are now…the little shed would be built narrow and back towards that 'stack 'o stuff"

looking back up the creek…

the kids and I just spent our lunch break digging and sorting…

stood there asking myself…what were you thinking

What’s it doing sitting on a table? Take it out there and start laying it on the ground. Between you and the munchkins, Eventually you’ll see something you like…

So, you gonna melt?

and this all left over

No, he wont melt, but the track might rust.

I like 3 best, but make that passing siding on the left longer.

Also, get rid of that s curve on the left of the inside. Put the siding where it goes right of the rock into the diverging branch of a left hand switch so the siding to the left of the rock goes straight in instead of dodging to the left to meet the switch.

Egad, do I have all those lefts and rights right? Or left?

Pix 2 & 3 work fer me, but then again it’s not my RR, how do they work for you. And how does a train look running on it? Keep it simple, you can always add/change things later.

Plenty left over for future expansion…
