David,
perhaps you should change your handle to the ‘blind reindeer’, the no-eye-deer?

Naah…however if had no legs would you call it “still” no eyed deer or if had no …corner Rooster

David,
good suggestion, your new handle should be the ‘legless blind reindeer’, still no-eye-deer. I am pleased that unlike your teaparty buddies you still posses a sense of humour.

My teaparty buddies?

I have many ideas…but few have any value…I just keep them to make me feel good…

Perusing some of VS’s other forums, it’s much the same; words in posts turned into hyperlinks for products (Who knew “house” would link to Charmin?), and on a few of them, periodic posts within the thread that just insert a banner ad into the body of the thread as opposed to the top and/or bottom.

I did find it quite humorous that the rat-lover’s forum was covered with ads for D-Con.

Time will tell if folks tolerate it or not. The mass exodus at the beginning is expected. MLS’s legacy will come once the dust settles. These features are jumping out at us now because they’re new. A year from now, who knows? Like any other changes at any forums we frequent, we complain at first, but then we get used to things, and very soon forget about the “old.”

I’m in much the same boat as Vic; I’ve got too many photos hosted there to just cut and run. I’ve been migrating my build logs to my personal blog for a few years now, and most of my posts relative to those projects there, here, and elsewhere have been little more than pointers to the blog. Beyond that, I don’t start many threads at all.

Still, I’m tempted to pick benign words within my posts and link to random YouTube videos.

Later,

K

Bullshit…you’re just trying to defend your moderator status over there on the Shad stabbed me in the back MLS site.

This is your one warning. Take this to private messages/email. TOC, don’t add to it.

Back at you Bob as you could have warned me via private message/ email but you didn’t. Guess I’m supposed to be made a example of? Your wrong about this being the ONLY website owned by a train enthusiast as there’s a few more that I know of.

My rules, and how I enforce them, are well known. Enjoy the other sites.

Awesome! A 16 page thread discussing another Train Forum on this Train Forum…admit it, we’re all a little bored?

Hmmmm … it’s either that or some need to get a life. Now back to video editing.

Just a reminder. ALL hard drives WILL FAIL!!! You just don’t know when it will happen. sooner or latter. It will fail.

Which is precisely why I mentioned I have several backups. There are 3 ‘external’ drives on my desk today, as I write this, and the computer has 3 disks inside it. There’s another ‘external’ disk upstairs for my wife to use as backup.

Whether you use CDs, DVDs, SDs, or real disks, they will all have problems eventually. Keep upgrading - every 10 years take your stuff and copy it to a new medium. I think I have 6 copies of my 2005-2011 photo files on these various disks. Probably only 2 or 3 copies of the 2012/2013 photos, and of all the videos.

The clouds can be a place to store your stuff, as long as you have your own copy at home.

And yet you keep coming back to see what’s happening…

Naturally, it’s called multitasking!

Edit and upload video, clean the house, post on LSC and drink coffee.

No muss, no fuss!

Haha its entertainment Cal. lol

Boy does this bunch need a build challenge to get everyone doing something constructive, like building train stuff.

I had a build challenge. No more for a while.

Got any pics of that build I would love to see them?

Probably should start a new thread in the modeling section if you do cause they might get lost in this thread.

Pictures are out there. I no longer have them. Someday they will show up.

David,

Dave is probably referring to an old Mercury flathead V8 rebuild or a bit of Jaguar maintenance and possibly not train related.

Does Dave rebuild flatheads? have a '48 in the shed, 1/2 race cam,Edelbrock heads and Offenhauser tri-power…

3/4 race 53 Merc, ported and relieved, IKY 77B, Offy finned heads, 4bbl Offy with 390CFM Holley, 3-ring slugs, stainless valves, Mallory, headers.
The other two are more or less stock flatmotors with Merc cranks and slugs (255cubes).
The Jag is one you don’t see stateside, as they didn’t import them. 2.4L, twin Solex downdraughts. Oh, and RHD. Now, my cousin’s car…when it hits the salt, should be quicker than my 3/4 race Merc.
