I’ve not had any dealings with 2 rail AC, but my first thought is no. House wiring has one leg of your AC grounded. You would ground both sides of your AC this way as you passed accross the insolated joints. And if you didn’t insolate you would short out everything. It would be like sticking a wire in both sides of an outlet . The only way that idea would work would be with 3 rail or overhead live catenary (AC or DC). LGB locomotives would have to be modified to make both sides of the locomotive active for power pickup in live catenary.
