My RR from space

I was messing around with Google Earth and was amazed to see my layout. (Arrow pointing to it.) Check yours and post a pic of it.

neat John. Looks like the third car jumped the track

Hmmm… I noticed the layout before I saw the arrow  Mine is mostly hidden under trees and not visible. I’m surprised to find hi-res imagery of our neighborhood out in the sticks. Last time I looked it was low-res and the images were several years old. My sons RC track used to be visible, but it has gone back to grass. This image seems to be from this summer based on positions of the boats in my back yard  The clearing to the right of the arrow is my back yard. The white dot is the base for a portable fire pit. The house is buried under the trees. See that empty boat slip at bottom left? That’s where my boat is Supposed to be. Been dead now for over two seasons :frowning:

Images of my place are still low resolution. The house isn’t much more than a shadow.

The imagery for mine is about 10 years old, so it’s still pretty low-res. You can see the roof, but not much else.

Mine shows up nicely from space, though you might have to squint a bit

Still not very clear in the rural area of Southern Illinois. I can tell that the image has not been updated since Spring of 2010, because of changes that I have done to the back parking area on the alley.

That's pretty recent. Up until just recently the images of our entire area were almost 5 years old.

You can see why I might have a leaf and acorn problem. The layout really is there…

I suggest expanding into the side yard and around the front yard too. No trees to give you problems  Ralph

Once I get a layout …sigh…it will be easily visible from space or above. Very few trees in our yard to provide a lot of cover. I checked Google and the last shot they have was shortly after we moved in. I can see my old trailer parked next to the garage and the old pool that burst right after I closed & winterized it two years ago. The swingset is in a slightly different place too.

I’m wondering whether I should get the “desktop” version of Google Earth, or the browser plug-in? I’m on a Mac.

The new Google Earth 6 beta didn’t work for me.
I’m on Win 7.
I had to reload 5.5.
'Course, I prolly screwed something up during the install…

Hi all,
What an intriguing idea.
I went to Google Earth and found that our rural area is now in high resolution, at least I think it is.
So I played around with it and found a way to post a view of the railroad. In another thread I was asked about pictures of the railroad, well, this just about covers the whole thing.
Only been back here one day and already learned how to do something new :)=)

Well I may have learned how to use Google Earth but not how to post it on here.
Must do a little more reading.

Rick,
If you’re using Windows, this should help.
Bob should make this a “sticky” on the General Discussion forum.
