My latest project, partially complete

Truely another level. Thanks Ray.
You got that right!

Although there are still a few small things left to do, my 1/24th scale two-story cottage is basically finished. In these photos I’ve temporarily placed it in position on the layout. I still have some work to do on the foundation and sidewalk before it can be permanently installed. Eventually there will be an entire row of buildings to the right of this structure:

All of the “wood” is simulated, mostly using styrene:

The porch post was constructed of brass:

The stone portion of the structure is all real stone and mortar:

You can’t really tell by the exterior photos, but each level of the building contains basic interior details. These will be much more visible through the windows when the interior lighting is operational:

The kitchen area is compressed, but looks good from outside:

I still have to wire the lights and add a few minor details, but I didn’t want to wait any longer to share this. Enjoy!

Very nice. It looks so good in place!

Looking forward to the neighbor’s house

Ray that looks good enough to LIVE in. LOL Great work my friend The Regal

Wonderful stuff Ray. I just love the neglected but not-quite ready to fall down look.

I think my 2 favorite details are your porch post and the porch light…I really like the light and it’s so basic. I bet from the way it looks it does illuminate pretty neat.

Ray,

That is a wonderful creation and the weathering is perfect! I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest of the block of buildings. Really nice.

I had to come back and visit this thread. Excellent work…

Jon.

Thanks Jon!

Here are a couple closeup photos I shot this afternoon… Nothing special but I liked how they looked: .

Holy Cow Ray, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a picture of a model look so real.

Thats amazing how they look so real. Good work

Those are really great shots of some really great models. Unbelievable.

Looking at the latest pictures closely, I think a lot of the realism comes from the reflections in the windows. This statment is not to take anything away from great modeling skills.

Can’t say more than if I saw these photos posted alone( the last two ) I’d swear they were someplace you visited. Beautiful work Ray.

I just vomited on my keyboard!!!
YOU ARE OUT OF CONTROL RAY!!
Incredible work!

I’ve got to agree with everyone else. The last two shots look real. The glass/reflections give the buildings that extra depth that makes them very realistic…

Jon.

Heheh! Thanks guys.

I just realized I posted those last two pics in the wrong thread. Oh well.

They look just as good here as they would there
You should have posted them in the " decline of modeling" thread. No text needed
