My housecat and Big Hauler video violates YouTube standards?
What the heck?

Just recently got up from napping to find this from YouTube:
And video video has been up something like 7, 8, 9, years

"Hi Scott FW,

As you may know, our Community Guidelines describe which content we allow – and don’t allow – on YouTube. Your video “My cats chasing squeaky mouse tied to G scale train” was flagged for review. Upon review, we’ve determined that it violates our guidelines. We’ve removed it from YouTube and assigned a Community Guidelines strike, or temporary penalty, to your account.

Video content restrictions

If a video contains violent or graphic content that appears to be posted in a shocking, sensational, or disrespectful manner, it’s less likely to be allowed on YouTube. We also don’t allow content that’s intended to incite violence or encourage dangerous activities. We review content on a case by case basis and will only make limited exceptions for appropriate educational, documentary, artistic, and scientific contexts, where the purpose of posting is clear.

In light of this, we ask that uploaders post as much information as possible in the title and description of their video to help us and viewers understand the primary purpose of the video. Please note, even with this additional context, it’s still not acceptable to post violent or gory content that’s primarily intended to be shocking, sensational, or disrespectful and this type of content is prohibited on YouTube. Learn more here.

The impact of strikes
This is the first strike applied to your account. We understand that users seldom intend to violate our policies. That’s why strikes don’t last forever – this strike will expire in three months. However, it’s important to remember that additional strikes could prevent you from posting content to YouTube or even lead to your account being terminated.

How you can respond
If you believe this was a mistake, we’d like to hear from you. Please follow both of these steps as simply deleting the video won’t resolve the strike on your account.

The next time you sign in you will be asked to acknowledge this strike on your account.
If you would like to appeal this strike, please submit this form. Our team will thoroughly review your appeal and will contact you again very soon.

We value your opinions and feedback. Please take a few minutes to fill out our survey.
Sincerely,

  • The YouTube Team

Actually, this does make sense if it was reported by some liberal female social justice warrior who is pathologically incapable of discerning any difference between reality and their personal fantasy world, ignorant of any difference between plastic toy and real life.

It’s most likely a crappy computer program that found “cats” … “tied to” … “train”…

I do believe it’s all in the eye of the beholder…

Having played fantasy and sci-fi role playing games, I will forever connect that statement to http://dnd.wizards.com/dungeons-and-dragons/what-is-dnd/monsters/monsters-beholder

I really would like for someone from YouTube to explain in detail why their own personal deductive reasoning skills are so pathetically insufficient.

I work at YouTube, though not in the group that handles this stuff. I’ll poke around. I have private messaged you for more info.

Just fyi, the URL to your flickr video is not right. It is missing the ‘:’ after the https. This is the right url: https://flic.kr/p/24B3pvf

Okay, thanks Jim.

Hmm, wonder how I did that with the url?
Also, YT page shows I posted it in 2014, thought I’d done that earlier, video was taken in 2010, November 26.

And from 2009 before I had either the squeaky mouse or the junior kitty, and on a YT channel I lost how to get in to after YT and Google blended,
{edit, figured out how to get in}

“My cats chasing squeaky mouse tied to G scale train” Do you suppose someone believes it’s a real mouse?

If that’s what it is I’m astonished that that someone has enough deductive reasoning skill to be able to figure out which way to move their eyelids to open them.

If their “deductive reasoning skills are so pathetically insufficient”, then they would be unable to “explain in detail why”.

I think that if it was a steam locomotive, it would have been allowed; it’s hard to show a diesel in a respectful manner: it’s just too shocking and sensational. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

What’s the difference, light dot or fake mouse? Both very funny.

Nice cat, Forrest. WE have been looking for a red tabby.

Like I said, it was probably a computer program seeing those words: “cats” … “tied to” … “train”… in the subject

Cats need exercise and to fulfill their hunting instincts. We have a house cat and make sure he gets exercise several times a day. They normally chase small objects and a moving mouse is good for them. NOT exercising a cat is not being a good owner.

So, are you going to contact YouToob and get this fixed?

Yep, did take the action yesterday from links in that message from them.

I still think the problem’s origin is in defective people with sub-par deductive reasoning ability.

Thanks! They are both rescues via a gal who at the time worked at my psychologist’s office here in our riverbank farm burg. The older one with the longer hair and white, Grumman, was rescued at juvenile age just outside town as almost road kill. Year younger one, Georgie, was rescued as apparently abandoned kitten out by a fishing pond. They are quite a pair and add much to life. Grumman was born 2008 or 9, I forget, and Georgie 2010.

As you might expect, the used portion of my hard drive is mostly cat pictures and train pictures.

I have no idea what’s going on here and I’m not sure whether it is even legal in this state. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Notice the G-man giving Junior a bit of side-eye. There is reason for that.

At first Junior, Georgie, was really worried by the trains but as you saw yesterday that didn’t last.

Ya gotta admit though, from a kitten’s perspective those G scale trains are large, noisy, and intimidating.

The moment they met. I didn’t do the separate them for a week in different rooms thing. Monique brought Georgie over after he had been rejected by her resident rescue cats and with Grumman’s behavior as a laid-back foster “cat dad” I just put Georgie in the floor in front of him.

The G-man is pretty chill with kittens.

But he is definitely serious about his play.

And play importantly figures in his history. Dr McVicker thought his left rear leg would end up having to be amputated because of nerve damage from when he got apparently hit after having apparently been dumped.
I said not gonna happen if anything in my power can be done about it. So I searched for physical therapy for cats. Found a good group for handicapped cats and joined.
It pretty quickly developed that the G-man threw himself in to play like a linebacker going after a fumble, fergit the PT, just play with him! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Speaking of play …

At one point I was concerned he was playing too rough with little Georgie.

Well …

One afternoon I was in bathroom doing my business and here comes Grumman to do his business in litter box next to toilet. Being only human living here I don’t bother to close the bathroom door.

(sometimes they both follow me in and we have a group weewee, must be some kind of weird male bonding ritual?)
While Grumman is occupied here comes Junior and takes up ambush position just outside bathroom door.

Grumman finishes his job and saunters out without a care in the world.

Junior launches at him and absolutely flattens him.

Grumman’s expression was so totally “What was THAT and where DID it COME FROM!?!?!?!?!?”
Okay, Junior takes care of himself just fine, no further worries. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Yes, I could tell pet stories all day.

On these 2.

On cats from past decades.

On childhood beagle and collie family pets.

We had a Red Tabby like yours. He was blind in one eye, but that never stopped him! He would hide behind a blade of grass like “You can’t see me!” and then pounce on you as you walked by. the more surprised you acted the more he would do it. He would follow my wife around while she was gardening and pounce on her as long as she acted surprised. If you didn’t act surprised he’d slump off giving you a backward look like “Your no fun”. sure miss him. Adn he was alwasy good with any other cats or dogs we brought home.
