My housecat and Big Hauler video violates YouTube standards?

Wow not even 2 pages yet and a resolution over a pussy have been “resolved” on a G scale train forum

EDIT FOR PAGE 2

Finally, when you got a human to make the evaluation, the decision was obvious. I’m pretty darn sure, with the millions of videos on Youtube, it’s a brainless computer program scanning the videos.

So, success!

Greg

Oh, so Artificial Intelligence makes the wrong decision again. Yup, sign me up for a self driving car. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Loved the video, Forrest. Great cat stories too. I was never a cat person until I met my wife. I can’t remember if I fell in love with her or her cat, Chester, first. But I have treasured the joy our feline family members have provided over the years. Can’t wait to show her your two boys. She has a soft spot for orange kitties. She likes cats so much, her nieces and nephews call her Aunt Kitty. Tell Grumman and Georgie that Mr. Paws and Uncle Munson say hello (our 2 maine coons).

Will do. Oh gosh, two Maine Coons is like 4 of my little guys at their 10.5 pounds each!

Read that to Mom & Dad, they had a good laugh and said, yep.

To fill others in on discussions that Forrest and I are having by PM: I’m poking around inside of YouTube to understand what happened in this case. My poking was not the reason that his video was restored (I’m on holiday and folks are heading out to an offsite right now so have not yet made the right contacts).

I am guessing that it was indeed a not-terribly-bright machine learning system that was going purely off the video description that suddenly woke up and caused the take down in error. As soon as Forrest asked for a review a human looked and made the obviously right call.

No defense, and not definitive, but my best guess. If I find out anything else I’ll come back and post it. However, corporations are notoriously bad at providing clear explanations about why things went wrong (and to be fair, our systems are changing all the time, so it will be hard to give an explanation that would stand the test of time).

And I am but a small cog in a big machine

Oh the horror, that poor cat. I mean why would you ever think it is OK to have your cat chase a fake mouse tied to a string behind a toy train. Now if you tied a deer carcass to the back of a moving BNSF frieght train so some cougar could run it down well then. . . well no that would be fun to watch also.

We had a Red Tabby like yours. He was blind in one eye, but that never stopped him! He would hide behind a blade of grass like “You can’t see me!” and then pounce on you as you walked by. the more surprised you acted the more he would do it. He would follow my wife around while she was gardening and pounce on her as long as she acted surprised. If you didn’t act surprised he’d slump off giving you a backward look like “Your no fun”. sure miss him. Adn he was alwasy good with any other cats or dogs we brought home.

Yeah, it’s against community standards to tease a house cat. You wanna post humiliating home videos of your own kids in excruciatingly embarrassing situations, like your two-year-old stuck in a toilet (ha ha ha isn’t that just so funny, America?) that’s okay, but don’t tease a cat.

Not quite the cougar I was thinking of. . . but that works too.

The caption on that picture (upper left) is “Special Occasions Photography”.

I guess getting hit and killed by a train would qualify as a special occasion. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Well, it is certainly a once in a lifetime event.

My guess is that the AI flagged it for “mouse tied to a train”.

Like I said, it was probably a computer program seeing those words: “cats” … “tied to” … “train”… in the subject

Cats need exercise and to fulfill their hunting instincts. We have a house cat and make sure he gets exercise several times a day. They normally chase small objects and a moving mouse is good for them. NOT exercising a cat is not being a good owner.

So, are you going to contact YouToob and get this fixed?

Greg

Greg,

My cat (aka old mate, El Moggo or other names that cannot be repeated on this forum) who is asleep under my desk here (again) wouldn’t know exercise if it ran up and hit him in the face. This dude is to lazy to get out of his own road but then he is long in the tooth (about 12+ years now). Getting him to exercise would involve me chasing him and if I did that I would not be good owner. He will lay and watch as lizards run past him and he has been like that since we got him, any further laid back and he would fall over, never owned a cat like him he just will not play.

As for Utube the fun police now run it and that is no fun at all.
