Large Scale Central

My house in approx. 1/24 or so? Photo dump!

My only comment for the copper gutters and downspouts would be that no matter what, they wouldn't stay very copper looking. Withing days they would begin to darken and then turn green as they oxidize etc. So ya, maybe tone them down just a bit. Don't get me wrong, I like them but they don't have the same amount of realism that the rest of the model has.

Jon.

Jon,
Yes I know.
However it’s a model and sorta my mythical toy so anything can go? Glad you chimed in as nobody is gonna hurt my feelings either way, just looking for opinions and per say “If it was your model”?

Thanks

Nah stove pipe is too obvious whereas the saggy gate only shows when you open it

Edit only cause I dare you to model the inside and still have time to play with trains

NO I’m playing with trains and need this model off the bench!

It does look nice next to Ritters Hardware, but signage and details can come later, currently making structures that can survive outside under natural elements.

Hey, the hardware store is looking pretty darn good too.

Jon.

Glad you brought that up as well.
Anyone seen Bo Bo the gorilla lately?

Think he was last seen near the tomato field throwing things at shortybear

OK …so I toned down the gutters and I love them (thanks Jon). Got the base finished this evening(redwood) and working on the back porch/deck.

Now let’s peek in the front doors and see an empty house.

Nobody’s at the front door so lets go out back and check out the porch and deck construction. The porch posts are my first attempt and way to heavy so I’m gonna have to rip down a bit more scale posts. The rough in is going well and should have it finished in a few more days.

Did have a break in the weather here so I thought I would throw it next to Ritters True Value for a look and actually I like it’s position. I need to level out and make a good sub base for my town this fall…This weather is not cooperating for that now. The deck truss also needs some detail work as well, I would really like to do a concrete looking platform on it but fear it may hide the cross bracing underneath and take away from it’s openess. The thought of cutting all those bridge ties haunts me though!

Kinda like the weeds against the viaduct it’s becoming fun as I know what I need to do by posting this! Work that pays the bills resides on Monday :frowning:

Excellant. Like the fit. What did you use for the foundation stone?

Very nice!

Now you need to make the guy on the scaffold.

Naah…
I’m thinking “People in Windows” as I once read in a magazine
However I’m thinkin’ in the prototype and possibly in the model as well. You guy’s have been gracious enough to allow me to photograph you?
I’m startin’ with Andy!

Got that at Michaels a year ago after Christmas. 50% off......it's a cheap import/ spinoff of Dept. 56 stuff. It's rubber like and comes in sheets or strips like the brick fire wall on the house, eastside (also on Eberly's and Washington St. station). They don't have it now as I was recently there seeking out copper flashing. Zach and I did find some pretty killer Halloween stuff though! I'm ready to play with some trains real soon! ;) Who's coming to York end of September?

So I finished the back porch today. I thought about the brackets but decided to omit them as they are gonna be very tedious and not seen. I did add Shorty (the dog) though. Oh and the gutters do work as it was killing me to try them! With that said I deem this model OFFICIALLY FINISHED!!!

Neat! I’ve got just the place for it here.

I want pictures of the gutters…working.

Wait…what happened to the people???

Dang! You went and fixed it so we don’t have anything to pick apart. Post came out nice with the little bit of detail

Dave,
I’m disappointed in you! Note the doors don’t have the glass mullions!!!
Ahhhh the real ones just snap in anyway!

Oh that’s coming! Lets start with this guy in the camo hat talking smack! He’s trying to sucker money out of that poor gentleman so he can head home and get another haystack!

They also aren’t individual and don’t have door knobs or key holes.Fronts not fully trimmed and there are no steps from the deck, but who’d notice on such a build?

Yeah but if you use him you have to change the batteries all the time :D:

That’s one fine looking building, Dave!

What Ken said, DavidR… The house came out fantastic…

PS: I got 44 differences now…
