The sides of your cap are just triangles. The base of the triangle should be the width of the triangle (does that make sense?) You can figure the height of the triangle easily knowing how high you want the peak to be using Pythagoras.

The height of the triangle is Square Root of H squared + W squared. Grab a calculator.

Ooh. Might want to check your formula again, Tom.

Ken, Thank you as I was wondering about the location of some of those places you mentioned and transportation from the station to them.
You have to exit 30th St station on the Market St side for the subway. The train will take you down as far as 8th Street. There's a train station located in the Gallery Mall at 8th and Market. The subway runs the length of Market ST. and has a station at 6th St. Either way your only a few blocks away. Lots of good deli's to eat in too.................;) And ChinaTown is just north of the Gallery.

Pennā€™s Landing on the river is also a great place to walk around. Couple of sailing ships, The Olympia, and a Gato-class sub from WWII tied up down there. And you can see the battleship New Jersey from there and I think they have a ferry that runs over to that side, but donā€™t quote me on that.

You have any further questions, just send me an emailā€¦Iā€™ll be glad to help you outā€¦

Is should be just a simple mathematical formula ;)
Easy for you to say!

I envy those that can work out all these angles. I seem to have a hard time thinking in 3D. Probably why Iā€™ve built so many structures for my RR.

Dave - Iā€™m sure youā€™ll get it and it will look awesome when done.

I had the day off today and I got the roof nailed!!! Now with the front roof lines done the back is a piece of cake!!!

Glad I posted this as I need to paint under my fascia/freize board.

When you set it up outside, are you going to have a garden railroad in the backyard?

YES! It will probably be the ride on trains as I have some N scale stuff... Like I stated to you on your station.....When it's done it will be my turn to drive the street sweeper down Burbon St. I may E-mail you on Philly. I really think it will be a great trip and you have given me some awesome info. Would also like to have you up for a "bring your own toys" run real soon. Thanks again for the info ;)

Glad to see the roof didnā€™t cause any hair loss.
house is looking great.Any pics of the joints between the three differant roofs.

OK smarty pants,Trying to decide if I want the original slate roof with copper flashing or how it is currently with shingles and ice membrane. You just love to stir the pot donā€™t yaā€™ Dave!!! I do have an issue with where the turret meets the main roof line above the doors to the left(see the gap) however that can be fixed.

You know the hell with itā€¦Iā€™m just gonna tear the whole dang thing apart!

Now inspect my butt for flying monkeys! Smart ass

Thought your solution to the problem looked damn good. But you had talked about the problem spots and than didnā€™t give us ANY FREAKINā€™ PICTURES. Put it back together it looks great.

When is it going on the market??? and how much are going to ask for it??
Oh yea, How big is the lot your going to be putting it on???

JUST FANTASTIC what you have done there with building the house.

Rodney

Iā€™m kinda curious what kinda of cake itā€™s a piece of???

Geeze - If he does that then he'll have to build another micro-scale version of his house to put on the layout, and then....

Looks great Dave. Those gaps wonā€™t be a problem depending on how you finish the roof.

Stop yelling at me I'm sensitive!!

Nopeā€¦Iā€™m gonna tear it all apart and leave it in pieces and I might just do the same to the cigar store as well!
You know come to think of it Jon ordered that but didnā€™t state if he wanted it assembled or in kit form?
Put your bifocals on and get the tweezers out Jon:)

I wonder what I can assemble between the house,Lemo and the cigar store?? They are all built the same??

I didnā€™t ā€œorderā€ a cigar store, merely suggested it

Iā€™ll take it any way I can get it. Got tweezers, a 15X Opti-Visor and a jewelerā€™s loupe just in case

Here you go, David. http://www.tiny-trains.net/

There is an Asian company making a train about the right size. But I canā€™t remember what they called it.
It was discussed here on the forum.

Com'on Dave you were a Baltimore Intercity Firefighter for half your life.(I totally enjoyed the stories BTW) You lost your mind how many years ago! :)

Ralph,
I remember that thread but not spending the money when I have N scale stuff already. How does that scale out in relation to our gauge?

Andy,
Devilā€™s food for you and Angelā€™s food for me

Jon,
Iā€™m glad you have those utilitarian items on hand as you will need them. Iā€™m not tearing apart the store, however I fully expect pictures of a stocked cigar store upon itā€™s final resting place at the top of ā€œIndian Hillā€!
I know you can make signage for the front and side glass along with billboards down the rest of the structure on your puter(that sounds dirty).
Hell I play with dollhouses!!

You guys are the best!

OK back on topic

Looks clean right??..nope trusses are incorrect per the offset to the LH side. Have to shift the offset to the right
