Large Scale Central

My health update.

I dont know actually if he used the same hole or a different one. Never thought to ask. The valve itself is in roughly the same place. Looks to me like maybe a little more forward but not much.

I am already out of the hospital. I was released yesterday. I am most definitely getting relief. I woke up Friday morning and am not at all ashamed to say I was in tears because it was the first time since September that I didn’t have a headache. My ear is no longer ringing, my eyes dont feel like they are popping out and I dont have Snap, Crackle, or Pop (the Rice Crispy guys) in my neck. I am in quite a bit of pain from the surgery especially my neck right below my right ear where they started running the tube. But that’s to be expected. All in all it went well and the shunt is working. It will take some time for the eyes to come back as that was actual damage that must repair itself.

Its is amazing to me how instant the relief is. Was the first time and is again.

Why Spokane (3rd largest metropolitan area in WA ST) doesn’t have the doctors or facilities that Seattle does has always puzzled me.

Glad you are improving after all the “experimental” procedures over on this side of the state.

Looking forward to touching bases with you.

I agree John. The way they did this one was pretty cool. They took a CT scan of the brain pre-op. That was fed into a computer that then guided the surgeon as he placed the catheter. Told him depth, left, right, up, down. He also used a flouriscope for a real time view. But it was pretty amazing and not how it was done in Spokane.

No CT scans for me…I don’t want to know what’s in there. My ex-wife says you wouldn’t get bus fare for what’s in there anyway.

Let’s hope your improvement holds, Devon.

Devon,

This was the procedure my doctor used way back in April 2011. Happy to hear about your successful results. Sounds like you had a “real” neuro-surgeon THIS time :).

Yes Gary I am way more confident about this one.

Looks to me like you got off pretty easy. When my wife had her deep brain stimulation surgery in March they shaved her whole head! They also used a pre-op CT scan to help place the electrodes. She was awake for those parts of the procedure, and then under a general for routing of the leads and placement of the battery. Glad to see you’re doing well …

My latest souvenir. I am beginning to think the scares are making a nice logging line. Was going to get a tattoo on my head of a valve handle but now am thinking I need a Shay

Looks like you’re carrying around your own crop circle. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

We were surprised that this was all that was shaved also.

Bet you could slap one of these on, Dev!

Well recovery is as good as can be expected. I hurt, but not anymore than I expected. Between my gastric bypass and the opiates and anesthesia I was pretty plugged up but finally got things moving after 3 days. We are leaving Seattle today to head home. I have been out of the hospital since Friday but wanted to stay around just in case something weird happened. But all is good so I am traveling home today.

My beautiful bride is already home. Today is our 28th anniversary. Boy has she honored our vows. What a blessing and gift she has been. She took the “in sickness and health” part seriously. Cant wait to see her.

Hey, good news! Happy Anniversary! Tell that beautiful bride hello and thank you, for us.

Echoing Forrest!!

(Sounds like a new age nature album, haha!)

If a tree falls in the woods does it echo Forrest?

Happy Anniversary!

Funny I was down on Cape Cod the other day and I kept see this mug … and thought of you Devon …glad the recovery is doing well.

What a downer Sean. Bob Ross died in 1995, so you couldn’t have seen Him personally!

His mug was on mugs and other items… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Oh, his mug was on a mug. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I watched one of his painting shows once. He could have made more money selling whatever he was on.
