Large Scale Central

My first Mik's Challenge

Thanks guys. I will provide some detail photos of everything when it’s done. I just wanted to show an update photo to prove I was working on it. The cornice detail and signboards were laser cut by a friend of mine. We did some horse trading to keep me in budget, he will appreciate the comments. Just a few more things to do before it goes in paint, hopefully that is ready for basecoat by Thursday. I bought 3 extra sheets of stone, and I have gone thru a great majority of them.

John, I was watching the Simpsons on FXX, that was a commercial for something. BTW, I answered your PM about Home.

Chris

So tonight I wanted to work on the back of the building. As I said before, you will see very little of it, but I still wanted it to have a finish. Origionally I planned to use Magic Sculpt and make stone similar to what I did around the door. After seeing a couple of the guys stucco work, I decided to give it a try. I wanted it to look like it was put on over a stone wall sometime after the building was constructed. So I let my fingers provide an uneven surface. Then i pounded the texture in with a worn out wire brush, then added some cracks. In all, I’m happy with the way it came out.

Very nice…really looks the part!

That is great work and it really fits in the theme of Ray Dunakins work.

I’m looking forward to the finished photos.

Paint going on. Second coat of white on top cap tommorrow and it will be ready for sealer. Then windows, signs and details go on.

Chris

Chris, you’e done an excellent job with the finishing details. Can’t wait to see it completed.

Chris this is a classy build very nice would fit in any town USA

Classy indeed. Very workmanlike, fine craftsmanship, clean…you could sell that baby.

Sweet Chris, That is a handsome stone building. Great way to make a sizable structure with the stone covering both stories. Plaster covered brick on the back sides bought you plenty of stone to do the front. Also I have to say I really like the corbels and detailing. Ive really been basking in this type of architecture driving up and down the main street in Brookville, PA the last two months. Nice to see some of it here. Ive even been devising a plan to build and add some corbels to our new house. Great job!

Nice job Chris , it really has the look of a mid town building!!

Great project! Gonna be hard to vote this year

Chris , You rocked that building. Nice, Very nice work… (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
