Large Scale Central

My challenge for 2011

For my, I challenge, I chose the old station in Salina, Utah. I found it on Ghost Depots. After doing some research, I found it was torn down a few years back. The challenge so far is to find photo of it. There is a depot in Richfield that is still standing, and I believe was similar, so it may have to do. But I am still trying to see if I can find a few early photo’s. Here is what I have done so far.

I started with some redwood I found.

After a trip through the table saw and the planer I was ready to start.

This is were Iam so far.http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/smokey/_forumfiles/start4.jpg.I am going to have to fire the two guys if they don’t get working!

Frame work is done. Now to start on the sideing. .

Thanks guys. But this one is more detailed than I thought. Today I got the siding and a coat of primer on.

Pretty neat. What’s the finished color going to be?

On the one I found with a color photo it was gray on the bottom and white on the top with dark green for some of the trim.

I got this done last night while lurking on the chat line. line.

Today I got the paint and trim on. Now to build the door’s and window’s. Then the fun starts of putting on the cedar shingles. Oh Boy what fun!!

how did you make these carved boards?

They are fancy bamboo forks I found at the doller store. Some time ago, which I trimed up.

good idea, they give the building some personality.

So far this week I got the roof started with hand cut cedar shingles. This has proved to be a challenge.

I get cross eyed just thinking about all those shingles
