Mike,
Clever use of K&S flat bar for strapping. Looks great. Wish I thought of that.
For pipe load strapping I used auto pin stripes (black)

Thanks Matt, I think the tape was the right choice for going around round objects such as pipes. The K&S strips worked here cuz it only required a small amount of bends.

Not really Mike …thinking 1:1 prototypical and I bet it has happened!
Great work!
I am sure it has, but I haven’t seen that one yet. The other day we did see something unusual though. Amtrak usually rolls through Spokane around 2 am. The other day an Amtrak train rolled through mid day and at the front was a BNSF Dash 9 or some such loco (they all look alike) followed by the normal Amtrak silver bullet. Don’t know why the BNSF loco was up front nor the weird hour. Break down maybe?
Devon, that’s it. All them diesel-lectric things look alike to you steam guys. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)But a true deisel-lectric fan can tell you the differences between each one, and each phase of one and what mods certain railroads did to their EMD, or Ge whatever and… (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)
I am with you. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)Modern diesel are just too boxy looking for me to care to learn the difference between an AC44 whatever and an SD whatever dash something… (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
I actually did notice some difference while stuck waiting for a slow rolling BNSF train between -9 whatever and a something like es44 I believe it was. They look dang similar at 50 but at 5mph you can see some subtle differences
Glad you can tell Devon. I am clueless. I know a GP has B Bloomberg trucks, where as an SD has C trucks, usually flex-coil trucks. Beyond that, all GPs look alike to me, and all SDs look so similar that I am never quite sure. Then when them things with the safety cabs come along, I just don’t know.
I’d like to see some more photos of this in natural sunlight. The indoor pics are great, but you can’t see near as much detail as if you took it outside.
Watch it Mike …Burl’s got his eye on your car as well. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
I’m looking forward to seeing it with the wood end boards , lettered and weathered . But before this one is completely done i’m gonna finally finish that centerbeam car I built last year. Stan sent me the decals a couple of days ago and i’m hoping to get them tomorrow. I have to wash a years worth of dust off it and then get to decaling it. But as usual there is always something. I’m thinking how i’ll support it as I decal the ends. It has to be vertical , and the car is big and I don’t want to break anything on the ends. But here’s a picture of the bulkhead flat as it is today outside.(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0888.jpg)
Excellent!
Awesome work Mike! Great pictures too, I thought it was a real car for a minute, same woth the gondola, had to look 2 times
Amazing work!
Thanks Pete , Matt and Dave ! This one was a little easier than the centerbeam car. Lot more parts though.
Are we going to see them side by each?
Its been a few weeks since I got more done on this car . I got the decals applied from Stan and clear coated it . Again the decals were really nice and went on real nice . I did have some issues with the tiny reporting marks that go on the trucks. I’m glad I had Stan make me 12 of them on the sheet. They were really small and hard for me to see. Anyhow the next thing to do is to weather it and then finally get the wood end boards on. Here are a few photo’s from today. .(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0938.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0948.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0939.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0943.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0932.jpg)
Wow, is it real or Memorex? (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
