I have decided on a Grist mill or a Black Smith shop. I haven’t had much time to come up with a Napkin drawing yet, but have been giving it some thought while at work. So I will have my decision by the end of the day tomorrow…
ooh a grist mill would be cool
Water driven?
Yes Devon, If I go with the mill it will be a over shot mill wheel…
Decided on a grist mill over a black smith shop will be a medium size one for my build this year. Wife liked the idea too. I will sketch it out to post my "napkin"plan. I am going to try something new this year… I picked up some sheets of corroplast or something similar at Michaels back in December to try out for s structure. i think between never using cast stone and the previous mentioned stuff this will be a great learning experience and broaden my skills with different material other than wood. So now onto the drafting board and get the building crew prepped…Beer, whiskey,(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif) glue, nails?. doors, more beer, some mortar for the stone (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)and maybe a level to keep things straight… oh yeah let the fun begin…
Well Fellas the Railroad decided they need a Grist Mill powered by the nearby stream to grind flour to bake with and some corn to …maybe make some moonshine at the local still. This Mill will not be too large dimensions are still being kicked around. However the Foreman says that it will be big enough to keep up with the railroads needs…
So this will be my project for this year. I have been wanting one of these for some time, never got around to it. With the awesome package of stones from Dave this should turn out pretty cool. If time allows I may find a old cheap electric clock that actually has a minute and hour hand… LOL pull the motor out and make the wheel spin… What I really want to do, but due to the time constraints is have the interior detailed with the gears and such so you can see it move… I have been in several mills like these and they are fascinating to watch it in motion… So now the wait begins… One more Day. Gonna be busy this weekend…
Very cool Travis, looking forward to your build.
Chris
This will be one to watch for sure. Ambitious project.
Looking forward to seeing this one come together. Especially the wheel.
How do I get rid of the line of data underneath my pictures when I post them?. It’s between the picture and paragraphs…
Do you size them before uploading or is the site re-sizing them?
I upload at 800 wide and never have seen that.
Which way do you post them, quick reply at the bottom or the reply at the top of the page?

He had me with the cat with the suicide vest on
If I post from Flicker, and not delete the extraneous crud when I paste the location into the image dialog box, I get that stuff. I suspect you are dong the same with some picture hosting site, not an LSC freight shed.
When you past the URL (image location) into the dialog box, you need to delete everything AFTER the .jpg
I post quick reply when posting pics and text at bottom … and I have to put the size in when I add a picture…
I leave the “constrain proportions” box checked. That way the system does the sizing for me.
