Yea, google and Bing have been behaving bad for me lately. Some dang blasted programmer decided to add another flippin feature to the system, and buggered things up again.

You don’t need to translate it. Just insert it into the Google search feature.

I thought that was google translated (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Looks like I better find a place to get a napkin and some crayons before I get stoned (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Got my stones, I played with them, sniffed them, and licked a couple of them.

Will be getting you a payment in the next couple of days Dave.

Thanks,

Chris

Prizes

As previously alluded to I will be offering three original figures as prizes. Like last year these will be awarded by random drawing of everyone that participates. No voting, You do not have to be the best or do the most…just get involved. Here are the figures and the categories.

“Mik just Mik” in 1/22.5 Random drawn winner from everyone who participates in the build

Ken Brunt in 1/20.3 Random drawn winner from everyone who votes in the challenge

Bob McCown in 1/20.3 Random drawn winner from everyone who runs the forum and puts up with our **** all year.

Sorry no pics yet but coming real soon.

I guess everyone that is taking part in the 2017 challenge is now getting their projects underway.

I wish them all success and enjoyment.

24 HOURS

TO GO

This years challenge should be a great one.

The posted projects run the full gamut.

The saw dust will be flying tomorrow,

and the pins drawing blood.

Anticipation runs high.

BTW: Those of you that signed up and got stones, needs to declare what they are building and start their build thread by tomorrow!!

Ice storm coming this weekend, so perfect to get some stuff done. I stocked the hobby room up with Red Bull, Cheetos and paper towels, then assured the wife I wasn’t on another porn marathon!

Going to be a lot of fun.

Chris

In this Post Modern world where truth is what you define it to be and we each live in our own reality and it is 4:30 AM on Friday the 13th in Japan and I truly believe I live in Japan and since my reality is not your reality and you can’t tell me different

Can i start cutting?

Somtimes I think my wife would prefer I do the later instead of the former. It would be cheaper. I like trains better and it conflicts less with my morals. . .Honey your stuck with me and my trains.

I’ll take your request for a Japan time zone start under advisement, and give you a ruling tomorrow, so hold off till I come to a decision, I’ll let you know.

well that didn’t work

Probably don't need to say this but:

GO!

Remember Rule #1 applies in all ways!

So get off the computer and go build!

I’m excited and I’m not even participating this year. Other than voting of course. Good luck everyone, and have fun!

QUESTION?

What is everyone planning to adhere the blocks with? Given the difference in backing materials the question crossed my mind. I’m planning to use PowerGrip construction adhesive caulking but it’s slooooooow to cure so progress can be limited. Wondered what others are going to use.

Goop and E6000 have been mentioned … I’ve got a tube of E6000 so I’m trying that.

John

I’ve used Goop to repair shoes, but boy it can be messy (stringy) to work with. I’ve heard of E6000 but that its very smelly, that won’t fly inside the house. I guess either of these, Goop, E6000 or PowerGrip are all going to require a set-up and cure time allowance.

Who else is using what?

Vic,

I started with Liquid Nails. Very slow working time. Even 12 hours was not enough. I had to switch or I was going to be in a pickle. I tired hot glue, works great. I am backing with pink foam. It melts the foam a little but that makes it grip even better. It adheres to the resin very well, has to be forcibly removed. Holds it tight enough to drill through it and file on it. Even when the drill bit catches. Bet part is your working with it in seconds not hours.

I’ve been using Loctite GO2 GLUE. It holds the “stones” nicely, has a working time of ~1/2 hr or more, does not attack plastic, and will not “frost” even clear acrylic parts like CA does.

Would probably work on foam without problem, but I can test some if you like.

I am using Goop. A brand new tube doesn’t string like partly dried out Goop, but it does have some drying time. So I plant my butt in front of the TV, and glue during commercials.
